I've been taking my dog and cat here for six years because it is within walking distance of my apartment. Its ok but not great. The staff are not terribly friendly. The vets seem fine. The young one is more personable and seems more knowledgable. The older one seems nervous around my dog and a little less up to date on animal medicine. Also, when I bring my cat in for his yearly shots and exams, the older one just gives him his shots and doesn't give him and exam except weighing him and checking his fur for fleas. I'm not a vet-med student or anything, so maybe there isn't much to do for a cat examination, but $60 seems expensive for a simple skin check. Overall, they're fine for routine vaccinations.

Great doctor. Great staff. I totally trust these folks with my two cats. Very competent and also friendly and flexible. Willing to take appointments last minute for something that comes up (don't want to use the word emergency, but sort of milder form of that sort of thing--unplanned, need attention right away--they'll get you in).

I've read the other reviews and can attest at least to the price issue. However, I don't think Beaumont is doing/charging anything any other local vet office is doing/charging. Since I was right next door - Town and Country - I liked being able to walk to the vet for appointments, boarding, and grooming. I used them more for boarding and grooming. One of the vets there is a really old guy. I didn't like him much and preferred the younger vet. My friend, who is a current UIUC Vet Grad, liked the older vet better. I guess it's more personal preference than ability. I'm sure if that vet said anything outdated or out of the ordinary, my friend would have never gone back there. The vet care is okay but if you want more bang for your buck go to Banfield instead. Since they're a national vet office they can provide the same services at a substantial discount. Basic services like rabies shots and comprehensive checkups are much lower than Beaumont and if you come at the right time of day and time the office visit is free. Unlike small vet offices that will charge you hundreds for tests, Banfield has "health plans" for your pet where many tests are covered if you pay a low monthly charge. We had to do that when we suspected our dog was diabetic. Large vet bills from Beaumont for the initial tests. No bill (just the 20 to 30 monthly charge ) from Banfield. They will also discuss alternate (cheaper) payment options if you go to another clinic - if you are eligible for the discounted service. Of course, Banfield will suggest more things for you to get for your dog but most of the time the extras are covered in the plan. So far, we've saved over $1,600 in pet bills by making the switch. Beaumont may be a good option depending on distance, how healthy your pet is, whether you need boarding, and whether you like staying away from the mall. Banfield should be a first choice for everyone else - especially if your pet has health conditions. (Oh, Petsmart grooming is cheaper than Beaumont too but the groomers are not that experienced - in other words - don't let them cut anything.)

Long story short: my cat had a simple food allergy, and the doctors here performed tons of completely unnecessary procedures, including an expensive surgery. When my kitty didn't get better, I took him elsewhere, and the new vet told me I'd been taken advantage of! I ended up in debt and my cat in lots of pain because of this clinic's inept vet med decisions! STAY AWAY!

I took my cats here when one was wheezing. The vet said it was allergy problems and put him on steroids. That never helped. The doctor was kind of old and I feel he wasn't up to date on his medical treatments. It was probably 50 years since he's been in school. I basically wasted money because my problems were never resolved.
