It has been awhile since I have had my pets to see Dr. Reed because of the distance in travel involved. I was appalled to see a hateful review written about Dr. Reed. I have always known him to be very kind and compassionate with all animals. My word, how many doctors take in wildlife and orphans to get them back on their feet? I assume he does that at his own expense. He is very kind-hearted and in my experience his staff has always been the same way. Don't let one review from the overly crabby person keep you from giving Dr. Reed a chance. He has a good reputation in the area and can be trusted to give the best care.
Dr. Salmon and his staff have always given my dog excellent care with every visit. In emergency cases they have given me prompt medical attention, be it an in office visit or over the phone consultation. My dog is on the nervous side, large and he has always done his best to keep her calm. I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else.
If there was a way to give this vet no stars I would have. 4 days before Christmas our families dog Molly started limping on her frong left leg. Last winter we went through this whole ordeal with our regular family vet (Dr. Reed) and found out that Molly had deterierating joints and arthritus. Last winter we were able to subdue her pain with medication and rest but we were told that if it progressed into other legs we would have to visit the idea of putting her down. However, when this happened our regular vet was out of town. We were told that we could pick up all of her records and take her to another vet to put her to sleep. I called and made an appointment with this vet because they were close to home. Our appointment was at 8 am. At 8:30 the vet called in this crappy excuse for an office and claimed "car trouble" and asked if we could come back maybe around 10. Also he informed his little office secretary that even though we had all her records and the papers saying her joints were deteriating, he wanted to do a new patient exam on her. Basically trying to get us for more money. We were not coming into this office to have our dogs nails cut. We were putting our 8 year old family member to rest and this man had NO compassion for that. Especially considering it was right before Christmas and we had a 3 year old daughter to deal with. The only recommendation I have for this vet is to shut him down. He's absolute garbage. We ended up taking Molly to Vale Park Animal Hospital in Valparaiso, where they treated us and Molly with respect and compassion. Chesterton Animal Hospital is a joke. NEVER BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!
This Dr has taken care of dozens of my animals for years and every minor and major problem has been taken care of without any issues. He has always been competent and professional. Even today I called and his receptionist told me to bring my sick dog in right now. I highly recommend him.
