I'm the proud daddy of a German Shepherd named Blitz that's 7 years old. Blitz lost function of his hind legs one day and my wife and I rushed him in to IndyVet. After many tests, we found that he has Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD). We went forward with treatment and surgery and are now in the rehabilitation process with Blitz. He is slowly regaining function of his hind legs and we hope that he will be walking again and recover his bladder function, as well. Things are really looking promising for our little warrior! Staff: We've been at IndyVet a lot (practically our second home) and throughout this process, the entire staff at IndyVet has been INCREDIBLY helpful. Every doctor is extremely knowledgeable, but the most time I've spent is with Dr. Vecchio and Dr. Westrick. Not only are they TOP-NOTCH professionals, but they are also exceptional individuals. They connect with you on a personal level, they do not get your hopes up or down and they have a strong sense of compassion. Care: In my opinion, you cannot possibly rival the care received at IndyVet. I've never seen care like this and it truly gave us peace of mind when Blitz was hospitalized for an entire week. You can call anytime for advice or to check up on your pup (24 hrs). We've utilized IndyVet a lot as a resource and they are always kind and patient with us. There are many animal lovers there that give Blitz lots of love, and he looks forward to going to IndyVet. This says a lot, because Blitz hates going to the vet usually. Blitz always comes out better than when he came in and often times the staff will go above and beyond to do extra to ensure he is as comfortable as possible. The only thing you have to worry about here is that your pup might get spoiled off of all of the positive attention! :) Pricing: As some other reviews have mentioned, it can be very pricey. I would spend a bit more at IndyVet any day because they are on an entire different level when compared with other vets. They have equipment and a facility that is hard to match. IndyVet is not a money hungry emergency vet bent on world domination. They are paying for the best staff and equipment. Although nobody likes hefty fees, you have to realize what it would cost for a HUMAN without health insurance and undergoing surgery. Where they could work with me on price, they did and I appreciate it greatly. Note: One thing I am kicking myself over and wish I had done is had Trupanion insurance (found out about it at IndyVet and just got it today). A lot of Blitz's surgery would have been covered and so would his IVDD in the future. Now since it is a preexisting condition, he is covered on everything, but not his IVDD. Get Trupanion or some kind of insurance for your pet now before they can develop anything that would not be covered. I wanted to wait a while before I wrote this review so that I can give the most accurate and honest assessment of my time there. There is no place on God's green earth that I would rather take my beloved Shepherd than IndyVet. Thanks so much for what you have done we will always love and remember IndyVet and it's awesome staff!
Last Sunday my six month Old English Sheepdog, Emma, necessitated an emergency visit to IndyVet due to partially eating a compact florescent light bulb. Dr. Westrick provided excellent care and extraordinary follow up service calling multiply times to check on Emma's progress. Emma's emergency has "passed" and she is joyfully on to other misadventures. That wasn't my first visit to IndyVet. For the last six months Dr. Klein has been caring for my one year old Golden Retriever, Kate. Shortly after her first birthday Kate lost vision first in her right eye then in her left. I'm pleased and grateful to report that under Dr. Klein's care Kate has regained more than functional vision in both eyes and is once again exhibiting the playful, puppy like behaviors I find so endearing and thought were lost forever. Only Charley my gentle three year old male Golden with impeccable manners has escaped an emergency visit to a vet. However, it is comforting to know that, should the need arise, excellent, compassionate care is available locally at IndyVet. After writing the above, I read other reviews posted. I must say that the negative comments I read definitely DO NOT reflect the care I received at IndyVet. I found the staff compassionate, the care excellent, and the cost in line with what similar treatment cost at my regular vet .
Dr. Gillespie and the staff at IndyVet were amazing to our sweet basset hound, Wilbur. He was diagnosed with lymphoma almost 5 months ago and Dr. Gillespie gave him the best care we could have ever hoped for. Without that expert care and attention, we would not have gotten the last several months with Wilbur. Even when his cancer recently came back, Dr. Gillespie and staff called everyday to check on him. Thank you for giving him such good health for so long and for giving us these last several good months with him.
Just had a family pet go in for an emergency and they suggested a surgery that was overly expensive, with no other options given. The dog didn't recover and got worse within one week of the surgery, and then they wanted another $500 to put it down. This vet is a crooked facility. I was not in town when this event happened and I will be looking at the paper work closely. I feel they took my family for a lot of money, knowing that it was a pointless operation. It is one thing to lose a beloved pet, and another to lose it after being put into financial debt by a facility that knew better. They just ruined a family's life, and I will be actively looking for solutions since they provided none.
I had never been to IndyVet before today. Although I wasn't there for a pet emergency, I took a tour of the facility and am very impressed with the services they can provide. It is nice to know that in case if an emergency, I have a place I can bring my furbabies anytime day or night! If you get a chance to take the first aid course, do so, it was very beneficial!
