This is the only vet office I will ever go to again. I've had a lot of bad experiences with other vets in the Kansas City area. I have high expectations for veterinarian care, but Mariposa exceeded all of them. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews on yelp and Facebook. If your pet is your family, this is where you want them to go.

I have been taking my 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier to this wellness center for about four months now. My dog sees Dr. Shelia Dodson. When I first brought her in, she was having difficulty walking due to luxating patellas and a possible torn ACL. All of these were brought on by weight issues from chronic Prednisone usage for allergies and the negative side effects the drug can cause (e.g. tendons weakening). Dr. Dodson recommended feeding my dog canned food only that was grain free, and this has helped her allergies to the point that she is taking less Prednisone now, but she has also lost about 3.5 pounds since her first visit. She'd probably lose more if she went completely off of it, but I don't know how realistic that is with all of her other allergies as well (e.g. pollen). She also takes Si Miao San, a Chinese herb, for her allergies, and this has seemed to help more than hydroxyzine. In addition, I have been getting her Adequan shots and giving her Dasuquin w/ MSM, and she is now getting around so well that she can climb stairs. All without surgery. Moreover, their office is very competitive on pricing for supplements, shots, etc. I'm actually paying a less now than I was at my previous vet. I'm really grateful for that considering how much treatments have been lately. Finally, everyone in the office is extremely friendly. I especially love Cindy, the vet tech that routinely gives my dog her shots. She always rubs my dog's little Buddha belly and kisses on her after she administers her shot. Very rare for a vet tech to be that loving to a dog. Mariposa has a real gem there.

The staff is so friendly! I highly recommend this place!
