If I could give them more stars I would! It's always tough when you have to visit an emergency center and it will have you running through the gamut of emotions, but there staff and Dr.'s are some of the finest I have ever dealt with. We were referred to the VCA by our primary Vet because of an mass found in the abdomen of my Dog. We went for an Ultrasound and consultation with Dr. Grigsby; she was fantastic and prepared us for what the possibilities could be. Unfortunately in our case, it wasn't good. It was a very large(grapefruit size in a 55lb dog) mass attached to the pancreas and intestine and appeared to be attached to major blood vessels. She was very informative and prepared us for the worst but also kept us hopeful(as the surgery was 50/50 whether its operable or not). We set up the surgery and said our goodbyes to our best friend because if it was inoperable he would have to be put down. We set the surgery for the next morning and the staff again were so comforting and helpful, they allowed us another last visit before our dog went back for surgery. We were very fortunate to have Dr. Hazenfield and Dr. Allen operating on our dog; upon first look...it didn't look good. Dr. Allen came and talked to us and explained the possibilities and that while they could remove the mass they were afraid it would require several blood transfusions and possible plasma transfusions and would likely be a very expensive surgery(~$10k). Dr. Allen's consulting and discussion put us at ease and made sure we knew that what ever happened we were making the right decision. This is really what stood out to me about this practice, there understanding that the financial side is a very important part, as most don't have pet insurance(like myself)...no one ever wants to put a price on the life of your best friend; but when faced with that decision they made us feel as comfortable as we could.....***Here is the good part of the story and happy ending***. While Dr. Allen was talking with us and giving us time, Dr. Hazenfield was busy at work and isolated the mass and realized that it was not connected to any major blood vessels. Which made our decision a no brainer. With in an hour and through the skilled hands of Dr. Hazenfield and Dr. Allen the mass was removed and they were sewing him back up! They let us come see him while recovering in the OR the next day, the incisions looked perfect as well as the drain. All of the staff(nurses, front desk, Dr.s) care for you pet as much as you do. I can't recommend them enough...Even in the outcome was the worst case, I would have the comfort knowing that the VCA has the absolute best Dr.s and care. This is one case, while I hope we don't have to see them again...I know if I do...I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else!
Absolutely EVERYONE from receptionists to doctors was wonderful! I was there with our kitty for about two hours while they treated her; and while there overheard conversations and interactions with other pet parents. The staff was knowledgeable; kind; respectful; thorough; patient in answering everyone's questions; addressed all concerns; really listened to the pet parents. For those who gave a negative review based on "price" - yes, vet care, and especially Emergency vet care - is expensive! So is human medical care if anyone has not noticed that! I was pleased with the level of care; with the exceptional manner and interactions with the people; cleanliness of facility; highly recommend if you have an emergency and need help for your pet in a hurry or after normal business hours of your vet!
Taking your family member to be put to sleep isn't exactly what I'd call a good experience, but the folks at VCA were very compassionate and did everything they could to make our visit as painless as possible. They took my little buddy, Peanut, to the back to fix him with a catheter which they would administer the medicine through and got us set up in a quiet, private room with a comfortable couch and plenty of tissues. After they were done with Peanut, they brought him back to us so we could spend as much time as we wanted. They stressed that we could be there all day if need be. After spending nearly two hours loving on Peanut, we decided it was time (or I would have never called them in). Since Peanut had crawled into my lap to rest, the doctor was kind enough to preform the euthanasia there, with him in my arms, instead of moving us to another room and disturbing him. She then told us we could take as much time as we needed. When we were done, a staff member (Gina) came and swaddled Peanut in a towel, very gently, leaving his face uncovered. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me. Everyone at VCA treated Peanut, myself and my family with great care and sympathy. As painful as this experience was, I am very thankful for the care we received.
We have been going here for years. The doctors we have used have been excellent. They have always worked with us and are extremely knowledgeable.
I called to ask a question about my cat and they said they couldn't help me because my cat wasn't a patient there and hung up on me.
