Best Vet Ever! I have been going here for over 15 years. Never once has anyone ever been rude to me. Have I had to wait......yep. When you are as popular as Shively Animal Clinic, you are going to have to wait your turn. That's the price you have to pay to see the best. I know people that live in Indiana that will drive here instead of going to any vet over there. That should say a lot right there. When my dog had a emergency and I found her in the crate with pools of blood all around her........I rushed her to SAC. They took her immediately and started working on her. I am sure it saved her life. I told them that I was completely broke.........and had no way to pay them. But since i have been going there for years, they worked with me and put me on a payment plan. They are just awesome. Anyone that says this place is dirty, rude, unhelpful, etc, More than likely they are terrible people. In all my 15 years of going to this Vet, not one time have I seen it dirty, and not once have i ever seen them be rude........NEVER. All three of my dogs.........go here!

so i had some semalure expreance when i took my bandit there 50$ to make him a emergancy see but when i told them he was slipping away from me fast they took him right back in see his brother had just died 3 days before that of parvo and we were afrade he got it to witch he did and they took really good care of him yes the staff at the front were rude as hell but its a small price to pay for saving my baby boy

Where do I even begin. The wait is always ridiculous, the front staff were never friendly, they only accept cash or checks. I won't go into detail, but the vets themselves have been horribly rude to me, really I was astounded by their behavior. Also, I had a hamster that was injured and needed to be put down asap to relieve its misery. This was horrible enough on its own, but when I called them to explain the situation they told me I'd have to pay an extra 50$ to be seen right away or wait (probably for hours while the poor hamster suffered). Luckily, when I called Chenoweth Animal Hospital they let me come in right away despite how busy they were, and even ended up not charging me for it because they felt so bad for the hammie and me. People at a vet clinic actually caring must be foreign at Shively. They do not care about animals or people. I will never go here again, and I make sure to tell everyone I meet to never go here. Truly a disgrace in every way.

Wonderful people, good prices. Just know going in, no credit cards, and no appointments. Show up early, and remember that emergencies get seen first. But, once you sign in, you can ask them to call you when you have about a half hour left.

I don't normally take my English bulldog here but my vet's office in Bullitt County was closed on the weekend. He had what I thought was his third urinary tract infection which my vet had been treating with longer courses of antibiotics. We took him on a Saturday morning (waited for about two hours to be seen) and got in from what I came to understand to be pretty quickly. Dr. Joe was fantastic. He has a great way with animals and he did an X-ray and discovered that my boy had a bladder full of stones and an enlarged prostate. We got him in for surgery immediately and they kept me abreast of his progress the entire time. They even consulted with me during the operation when he was in worse condition than they expected. They took excellent care of my baby (had just turned a year old that week) and he still loves to go there and visit and isn't scared at all. I highly recommend Dr. Joe and his staff. The wait time can be enormous if you don't get there first thing, but their level of care is worth the wait.
