My puppy fell off the couch Sunday morning and broke his ulna, radius and crushed his paw. We immediately called Dr. Heintz and unbeknownst to us he was hunting and still answered my frantic call. Dr. Heintz is the most compassionate vet that I have ever worked with. He immediately connected us with Dr Gary Sod (who has emergency clinic in St Gabriel and who is a fabulous surgeon) and he x rayed our puppy and gave us pain medicine and scheduled surgery for the next morning. The surgery went amazingly well and our puppy is healing. The staff at Dr. Heintz's office, Dr. Heintz himself and Dr. Sod are the best in town. We wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Who answers emergency calls while hunting? That should put things in prospective for you when researching a good vet in the Dutchtown/Prairieville area. We love them...you will to.

They were awesome! Absolutely informative, professional & friendly. Took our kitten in & she has hookworms & mites. The vet Dr.John I believe let my son look thru the microscope to see what ear mites looked like which we thought was way cool. Our appt time was 4:30, we got there at 4 & was seen right away. I'll be taking our dog in 3 wks& will let you know if anything is different. .but the Dr & his assistant Ashley I think were wonderful & made us feel very welcomed & took great care of our Laveau.

Dtown Animal is the best!! We use them to vet, to board, and we have even had to use them for an emergency. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming!! Our dog is actually excited to go there :)

The first time we took our dog to be groomed the experience was fine. Since then we have brought her back twice to be groomed. The first time we were not told to abstain from feeding her the night before as she needed sedation (this was in the paperwork but was not brought to our attention). Dropped her off at 7 am and had to return to pick her up several hours later, barely an apology or acknowledgement of error. We rescheduled to have her groomed the next week. Dropped her off at 7, lots of traffic again. Called at 11 and told the groomer had an emergency, could we come pick her up. After I got there to pick her up they did not so much as offer an apology, complimentary grooming, discount, or even acknowledge the inconvenience and waste of time I had experienced two weeks in a row. Terrible customer service. Poor handling of the situation. We will not be back. Don't let this place waste your time!

I have been taking my cat to Dutchtown Animal Hospital since it first opened. Both doctors are wonderful and very attentive to my cat’s needs. I love that I can drop her off in the morning before work and I always receive a phone call, explaining to me the problem and the proper treatment to get my cat feeling better again. The entire staff is very personable and helpful and I know my cat is in wonderful hands.
