My collie had suffered a traumatic pneumothorax when we brought him to this clinic. When we asked Dr. R. to do everything she could to save him, she coldly replied that he wouldn't survive the night. Did Dr. R seal the puncture wound? no. Did Dr. R. try to drain the fluid from his lung? no. Did Dr. R use a pulse oximetry to monitor the oxygen in his blood? no. Basically, she put him on oxygen and hoped for the best, never giving him a fighting chance. He died 5 hours later, we weren't even allowed to stay with him during his final hours. If you have to go to this clinic, I pray that you get a caring doctor who practices the standard of medicine. Missing Benji
We have taken several pets to the emergency vet clinic. Have always been treated with compassion and kindness and they have been very kind and concerned when we lost two animals. Staffed by different vets and assistants, I have never had anything but good experiences here. Just this past weekend, Dr. Little and the staff on duty, saved our Boxer's life. Thanks to the local vets who own and operate this facility and their staff!
This Emergency Clinic is completely unprofessional. Will not recommend this place for your pet even if it has a minor wound. The staff never even asked our dog's name, medical history, if he was taking any medications, or even what was wrong. They snatched our dog away in the lobby, told us to fill out a form while they examine him. We weren't allowed to be back there with him to comfort, or even see what was going on. It was all rushed as if to hurry up and get us to leave so they could close down for the night. The vet never even noticed that he was a boy; calling him a she the whole time after discharging him to us. Again, I do not recommend this place for anyone's loved one.
I was out of town when my dog got sick. She started vomiting and could not stop. I took her in on Saturday and they gave her a shot for nausea. She is doing much better and eating now. Thank you to everyone there especially Dr. Ratcliff! Peekaboo thanks you as well for making her all better :)
I tried to make a trip to Lefebvre Veterinary with my kitty, "Stevie" this morning [ 09/10/2013] for a blood transfusion. She did not make it. So, L.V. will have Best Friends Crematory handle her remains on my behalf. I was told by the veterinarian on staff at A.E.C. that I could take "Stevie" wrapped in towels, warm bottles, to my private professional. This vet told me that he did not think "Stevie" would make it. He turned out to be right. This blood transfusion might have saved her life if it was available at the A.E.C. Instead, if I wanted to give "Stevie" a chance, I had to take her from Downing Pines Road/West Monroe, LA over to Duval Drive on the north side of Monroe, in morning rush hour traffic. My question is why isn't the A.E.C. prepared for this serious possibility as presented involving my cat, "Stevie"? She should have been able to have that transfusion right there without the stress of riding on my front seat for four/five miles in stop/go traffic. This clinic is for emergencies, isn't it? Not just those that can be out of the office by 7:00am in the morning, right? Why is there this time gap of 30-60 minutes between the time I would have to leave the A.E.C. and wait for a veterinarian to be available at his/her private office? That leaves pets, like my "Stevie", without any medical care for up to an hour? What good would it do for someone to have a critically ill animal, like my "Stevie", go to this emergency clinic and have to leave up to an hour before professional care will be available at a private office? The veterinary offices that support this venture need to close this time gap. Animals are dying between 7:00am - 8:00am. My "Stevie" has just been added to that list. Stevie may have died, anyway. However, the policies of the emergency clinic took away a lot of whatever small chance she had. This is not the first time that this time gap, 7:00-8:00am, has cost the life of one of my pets. Shame on whomever set this service up the way it is being handled. The way this venture is set up the correct name for it would be "First Aid" clinic/not "true" emergency clinic. Or, the sign should say A.E.C., no later than 7:00am in the morning. That would be more truthful.
