We've been going there for awhile now. Have never had a problem, and no horror stories when it comes to the actual health care. It is ridiculously expensive, although most vets are. Sometimes procedures are suggested in a way that comes across as though it would be free, and then when checking out, you'll find it was actually quite expensive. The boarding is also pretty good, and surprisingly affordable. (About 20/day). They did return my dog with the wrong collar one day (fairly sad, because my dog wears a harness). I had them find the right one. Biggest gripe is with the desk staff. There are usually 3-5 workers running all over the place, yet they always take forever. They're also less than helpful most of the time. Lastly, they won't fax insurance information to the insurance company, so instead, they'll stamp it, and you have to find an ancient fax machine somewhere. (They have one, they just don't do it because it's "confusing." Albeit, the partial definition of an office job is "ability to fax!") I'd recommend it if you're close. Otherwise, save yourself some money!
I boarded my small dog here for one week, he was perfectly healthy when he went in, but came out with diarrhea and confirmed parasite for which I was charged $100 extra to diagnose and treat, despite him catching it during his stay. Also, he reeked of urine and feces upon pickup. The staff were friendly, but hurried. If you are looking for inexpensive boarding in the area, this is the place, but proceed carefully.
Everything about VCA Brookline Animal Hospital is great. From the front desk to the technicians and vets, the entire staff is friendly and helpful. Pricing is reasonable and they are up front about it so there are no surprises.
The staff is friendly and the place is clean but WOW... they love to run up your bill as much as they can. I took my dog in for two shots... two shots and walked out with a bill over $170.00. The two shots cost $47.00 together. They charged me $56.00 for a "wellness exam" that my dog had 4 weeks earlier and the exam consisted of recording my dogs weight and checking her heart beat! $56.00!!! The doctor (will remain nameless) "offered" to drain some fluid from my dogs ear explaining it would lesson the discomfort. She said it would be quick... 2 minutes, it's just a simple needle. She made it sound as if it was no big deal and she was doing it for the benefit of my dog. She at no time made me aware of what the cost was or that she was going to charge me. Well that simple little needle cost me another $42.00!! Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere for a new vet.
I frequently board my dog at BAH and also take him there for vet care. This is a great vet and kennel! The vets are all very competent and they have very convenient (long) hours. The kennel and clinic staff are awesome, very kind and considerate. I am very happy that I can take my dog here-have been using their services since 1998.
