I have always had a good experience with Dr. Wiener. I first went because they accept my veterinary insurance (Pet Assure) but I kept coming back for the amazing care. Dr. Wiener and his wonderful staff are very good at putting my cats at ease, even the feisty one that used to be feral. The receptionist is really nice knowledgeable. I can tell that all the staff really care about animals. Dr. Wiener definitely looks out for his patients. When my kitten accidentally ate a pill, I called Dr. Wiener (who is very easy to reach on the phone, by the way) and he realized that driving to Cambridge would take too long for me and told me exactly where to go (MSPCA Angell) to get the cat's stomach pump. He was clearly prioritizing my cat's health over my business, which I really appreciate. Furthermore, his fees are very reasonable. I boarded my three cats with them for a few days. One of my cats needed medical boarding due to her asthma and when I picked them up, it was clear that Dr. Wiener had personally attended to her each day. We actually lost her inhaler on the way back (our fault) but when I called to ask if we had left it at the clinic, Dr. Wiener wrote us a new prescription and offered to pay for it. In summary, this vet is super good, caring and ethical, and his staff are wonderful too!

I will never go back to this vet, ever. Not even for vaccines or routine care. He's a money-grubbing, rude, condescending man who didn't look me in the eyes once during our visit. My cat is ill, yes, and it's extremely sad to watch her cancer progress. But Dr. Weiner made me feel stupid and bad for not being able to spend over $1,000 on a long list of tests and meds. (Which I found out later were unneccessary!) His response to my lack of funds was," Well, everything's expensive. Get used to that." Um, ok! Thanks! Thanks for making me feel even worse. The fact is, I got better information and more respect from a local clinic called Merwin Memorial Free Clinic in Cambridge. You should definitely take your pet there and donate while you're at it.

to the idiot below....its not about people caring only about their wallet! What a stupid comment! Its about the fact that all Dr Weiner cares about is his wallet! He is greedy and does not have the pets in his best interest. And when its obvious what hes doing wrong etc to other vets as well then I guess we arent wrong! Save your comments about other people on here that have had a bad experience! We have the right to tell our stories! We arent on here judging other people that have reviewed this "Vet" We are here telling our stories. So keep your judgements to yourself!

People who care about their wallet instead of their pet should not go to Cambridge Veterinary. My experience with Dr. Weiner is nothing but positive. If I want a friend I'll go to my neighbor, what I want is the best care for my pet. What I want is a veterinarian who is able to perform all of the services that my pet may need and not have to send him out to another vet. When my dog had to be operated on I didn't ask what every procedure cost, after all if I was operated on the hospital wouldn't tell me what I'm paying for, I just wanted to be well. May I suggest to all these people who give Cambridge Veterinary 1 star, if their concern with the price then get pet health insurance. If their concern with the care of the pet, that's foolish. Dr. Weiner has been nothing but professional and worth every dime we've paid him.

Great Experience! Despite my concerns over Dr. Weiner due to these reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to try him anyways. There were 3 things that we were looking for in a vet: knowledge, cost, and professionalism. Mr. Weiner was very knowledgeable in regards to our cats (one suffered from an abscess and another from a ripped cornea). He was extremely thorough and explained every bit of what he was doing to our cats and why. Our previous vet (at a certain well known hospital with an adoption center) miss diagnosed our cat's yeast infection as ear mites. Dr. Weiner caught it while examining him for a scratched cornea. As for cost, it is $64.50 for a check up (half as expensive as the well known hospital with the adoption center). Yes, he does have the funny OSHA fee and the surgical needle fee, but I rather have him include it if he actually does use a needle rather than adding that to the general check up fee. I can understand why some people state that he can be a bit socially awkward, however, we weren't paying him to be sociable but to help our cats. Regardless, we felt that he was professional and not cold and callous as some reviewers have said. Lastly, his staff was very kind, helpful, and sociable. The Kuerig coffee maker in the lobby was a plus!
