I was very impressed with Dr. Salter and his staff! After being referred to him by one of the volunteers at the rescue I volunteer at, I had brought my Chihuahua in for horrible, bad breath, thinking she must need a dental cleaning which costs 190.00 Dr. Salter examined her and said her teeth looked fine and no signs of gingivitis. He did think it could be a gastrointestinal issue and put her on Clindamycin which costs 10.00. Four days later, her halitosis is gone. An honest doctor! I have now changed to Dr. Salter as our regular vet.
My little baby Pekingese (8 yo. :-)) began showing signs of more oxalate stones. It was a quick onset. We called at 10AM and got an appointment for 1:15pm. Every single person from the receptionist, to the technicians, to the doctor was so sweet, kind and competent. Within an hour we had a full exam, ultra-sound, x-rays, a surgery scheduled for the next morning and meds to make my boy more comfortable for the remainder of the day and night while he waited to have the nasty suckers removed from his bladder. There's nothing like dropping your baby off and knowing that he'll be loved and cared for. Thank you to every one of you who work at the Dedham location. Your work is SO appreciated.
I took my dog to the vet about his anxiety and was prescribed med to help him be more responsive to the behavior modifications. The vet said that the vet tech will give me 3 wks of meds, and the vet tech has to compound it for me. She tells me to give 5mgs 2x/day, which is also on the bottle, and shows me what line to fill the syringe to. I ask about side effects and am told none-which I find out is a lie. At home I give the 1st dose. But I check out the bottle and it says there are only 25mgs of liquid in it. Because that's not what the vet said, I call them and get a vet tech who, when I explain things, says the vet will call me back. I wait 5 hrs. I call back b/c I don't want to give another dose without talking to the vet, and she says that the vet will call me in 30min, but that the directions are fine. The vet never calls. I figure the tech is right, this is their job, and give him the next dose and one this am. But I call the next morning and get a different tech who says I am right and that the dosage is .5 mg NOT 5mg. Who wrongly prescribes meds and then doesn't return calls about it? The tech who mixed the 3 wks worth of medicine into the compound printed the label and showed me how much to give, so she should have caught it. Even worse, they just seem to want to cover it up the issue and no one has apologized! When we finally showed up at the place and demanded that the vet call us, when he finally did he was similarly dismissive and unapologetic. I want to make sure that no one else runs the risk of having their pet harmed by this incompetent staff. Any other medication and my dog robably would have died. Unless you want substandard care, poor professionalism, and a grossly over medicated pet, avoid Animed at all costs. DO NOT take your pet here!
I created an account specifically to review this place, namely, the vet, Dr Salter. I took my 12 year old cat to be euthanized here recently, and all I wanted wanted a quiet and respect while Dr Salter put my cat to sleep. Instead he spent the entire time telling me about the cats ear mites, which made me feel even worse that I hadnt noticed them before. What was the point of saying that? Did he want to treat her ear mites right then and there?? I even asked him to be quiet while I tried to soothe the cat while she passed away but he kept blabbering on. He was so insensitive. I will NEVER go back there to have any animal treated in any way, alive or deceased. What an awful way to treat a grieving pet owner-like it wasnt hard enough. Never again.
We brought my mothers cat there and they were great honest and caring. Please do not listen to everything you hear but they really are the best around.
