I guess it is true that the only people who write reviews are those who complain. I would like to change that. I am the second generation in my family that has been going to Dr. Wessels. I have been to a couple of other vets over the years (once because Dr. Wessel told me to), but only for emergencies when he is not available. He has never been anything but professional, courteous, and compasionate toward both myself and my pets. He and his staff are wonderful caring people, and I would not take my pets anywhere else. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
He is a very good Vet has the knowledge, but he seems to have lost the love of animals. But his staff makes up for his lost of bedside manner. When he comes in to see your cat or dog he is all business. So if he ever gets his bedside manner back, he'll get the 5 stars... Until then 4 stars...
I took my shelter dog there for a routine exam and vaccinations. I told Dr. Wessel that my dog was a little scared of men at first. He made NO attempt to comfort my dog, talk to my dog, or build any kind of trust. He wouldn't allow me to hold my dog at all (because of liability of me getting bit), then he proceed to latch his collar to the side of the table, so his head was squished against the wall. My poor dog was shaking and scared to death! He had no vet tech helping him (didnt' see one there at all!) He proceeded to muzzle him when he drew blood. I've never had another vet treat him like this. He's skittish at first, but has a wonderful temperment. I was the one comforting him with my voice. Dr didn't do that at all. Does he even like dogs? I'll be bringing my dogs back to the Raynham Vet Hospital. Much better there!!!
My girlfriend and I are first time dog owners with an 8 month old Shih-Tzu. We have gone to Dr. Wessel for routine exams, shots, spaying, and a few drop-ins for other things. Dr. Wessel is very experienced and sober in his diagnoses and views our dog as an animal rather than the cultish way that alot of us seem to view our pets. He is understated and reassuring. We worry alot about our little pup and Dr. Wessel's steadiness gives strength and confidence to my girlfriend and I. I would definitely recommend Dr. Wessel and his staff.
