I have been going to Banfield for over 8 years for my two boxers. I pay monthly for the wellness plan knowing that i could probably pay less in the long run by going to a local vet. However, i thought that Banfield would have the better expertise and i haven't had TOO much to complain about until this last year. They clearly do not care about your pet and only want your money. I have too many examples to go over but the ones that stand out are the "failed blood test" that they performed and then demanded that "it is your responsibility to pay for another". I was told why should i have to pay again and the doctor's response was "well sir you are paying for our expertise". The expertise that failed? Normally they call to inform you that your pet's 6 month checkup, which is part of the highly priced wellness plan, is due. However, they decided not to inform me of this, im guessing due to the fact that i had plans NOT to renew my plan after it expired. When i asked to schedule the checkup that i had ALREADY PAID FOR i was told that it wasn't possible because it's not covered due to my plan expiring 4 days ago. Despite the fact that the checkup was due a month ago. Stay away from this corporate consumed DISorganization.
The previous comments cannot be farther from the truth, at least from what I experienced. We rescued a very small kitten from a shelter who we later found was VERY sick. I was a first time cat owner so I was an emotional wreck when we took him in. Yes the costs are high but they worked with me as much as possible and calmed my nerves. Yes you see different doctors from time to time but they are all fantastic and I am so glad we found them. We recently got another kitten to keep out cat company and the new kitten had health problems as well...yes again they saved the day and helped us save as much money as possible along the way.
As much as you'd like to think that people who work in a veterinarian's office have a special appreciation for animals it's not true here, that or they don't have respect for the work place or the customers. The office staff is very unprofessional, and the vets don't return telephone calls; twice after bringing my pet to see the doctor for a routine check up he's given her something that's cause her serious illness because of misdiagnosis, did I mention I've only ever been twice and that's all I ever will go. Do your animal companion and yourself a favor and find a different place, you'll save yourself time, money, and a headache.
