Peace of mind! Doctor Hammond and his staff have always been wonderful to deal with. I have taken my fur kids there since 1995 and have always felt very well served. Even though I don't necessarily live close, I have always taken my fur kids here for the best care and reasonable prices. I have taken my own personal animals as well as all of my fosters here for treatment. It's nice in an emergency to know that your fur kid will see the same doctors that they normally see. Doctor Hammond has been fabulous, always making sure that I am receiving the service needed. He is a huge advocat for animals. Doctor Sand is great to deal with and work with on ongoing care. Doctor Allen is also great to deal with as he helped me through a very difficult decision. The office staff is always knowledgeable, friendly and available. The staff in the pet store are equally as friendly and helpful. My two JRT's love everyone there and enjoy saying hello especially to Karina. Unless I move out of the area, I can't imagine taking my animals anywhere else for care.

Falls Road Animal Hospital saved my dog - and me - and Christmas - and the future! Last week, I noticed that my dog Rowan, a 10 year old, female Airedale Terrier was acting strangely. She is the boss of our house and the definite leader of our pack. She would not sit down or lay down (her favorite posture for tummy rubs). I took her to our regular vet. They did an x-ray and pronounced that she was very ill. She had to come back the next day for an ultrasound. So I went home worried, but hoping the white splotch on the x-ray was just gas (is that even possible?) After the ultrasound the next day, my regular vet said that Rowan had a mass on her spleen with likely involvement of her liver. She was bleeding internally and she would have to have surgery at 8 am the next day. *They wanted me to tell them if it was okay not to wake her up if she was riddled with cancer. *They said even if the surgery was successful, that she would only live for 3-6 months. *They said they would do a biopsy but these types of masses were almost always cancer. *They sent me home with painkillers, and a very sick dog who was bleeding internally. * They said they would be closing at 2 pm the next day. Rowan would be there locked in a cage with no one around to help her. * They said someone would come by to check on the animals on Christmas Day, but otherwise, Rowan would be alone, just out of major surgery. My sister came to help me. She had lots of questions, but I was too distraught to think. She thought for me. She contacted Dr. Hammond. He said they could help Rowan but we had to get her to Falls Road Animal Hospital right away. We walked in and the staff at the desk was expecting us. Dr. Allen had been scheduled to get off earlier but he stayed to take care of Rowan and do her surgery. Even though her internal bleeding had been at a slow rate, he explained that it could change in a moment. (Rowan could have died in the night from internal bleeding had I kep her at home.) Dr. Allen said that this mass could be either cancer or a hematoma (a blood clot or large bruise from an injury.) He said it was 50/50. I was delighted to hear those much better odds. I was so grateful and thankful that someone was willing to try to save my girl. We were allowed to stay and wait until after the surgery. Dr. Allen said that all went well. He found that the mass had broken away from Rowan's spleen and the bleeding was worse than originally thought. Also, the liver was not involved at all! After about a half hour, we were able to see Rowan in the recovery room. She was laying on an air matress, covered with blankets. She had an iv line but she was awake! I was so happy to see that a vet tech was sitting on the floor beside her - completely dedicated to her well-being. I kissed Rowan and went home - thanking God and Falls Road Animal Hospital for saving my dear girl. But, to be honest, it's not just Rowan who was saved. Rowan is the center of my family - me and my 3 dogs. We were lost for just the few days she was away from us. I know this is somewhat dramatic to say, but this experience reminds me of the movie It's a Wonderful Life. My life is better because Rowan is here. My parents, my sister and my niece have better lives because Rowan is here. So do my neighbors and my friends. Falls Road Animal Hospital has saved a whole community, by saving Rowan. They save families and communities by saving pets every day. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Hammond, Dr. Allen and all the wonderful staff who took care of Rowan. Even on Christmas Day there was a full staff there caring for her and other animals and the people who love them. Oh, and by the way, Falls Road Animal Hospital is my new and only vet for all 3 of my girls - Rowan and Reilly and Paisley.

So my cat ate some plastic bag, which can be a very serious issue. We took him to the FRAH as an emergency because he was vomiting so much, was lethargic, and stopped eating. He had vomited a lot of plastic already. They took us in, but not before charging an 87 dollar emergency fee. They did an X-Ray after the veterinarian inspected the cat. She palpitated the cat to check for any issues in his abdomen beforehand. The X-ray cost another 80 dollars. She then told us that if his intestine is blocked his health would continue to decline. They instantly recommended keeping him over night on iv for observation. Or send him home with a iv shot to re-hydrate the cat and we would monitor him ourselves. The iv care option would cost 1675$ and it was strongly recommended. We took him home with the iv shot because we figured the stress of being at the vet probably wouldn't help his health and would be happier at home. We also lived nearby in case of another emergency. The recommended surgery would then cost up to 3175$ in total. After being home our cat stopped vomiting, his health improved, his energy went up, and began eating and drinking again. We returned the next morning for the 2nd X-ray. Despite our cat's improved health the vet still recommended surgery. We decided to get a second opinion at a 2nd vet since she contradicted herself. The second Xray cost another 80 dollars and the copies cost 44 dollars. The second vet palpitated the cat's abdomen much more vigorously and told us that the blockage was highly unlikely for several reasons. He didn't feel one, the cat had stopped vomiting, the cat was not running a fever, and plastic bag is much more malleable than say a ball or dental floss. He gave us a laxative (which FRAH didn't even consider an option) and the total of the visit cost 70 dollars. After a total of 280+ dollars and tons of sales pressure (even with payment plans) for the 3100+ in unnecessary surgery, we just ended up frustrated with FRAH. This is the last 280 dollars they will get from us. My suggestion to FRAH is update your practices and stop trying to cash in on people's love for their animals. Otherwise, you will continue to receive reviews like these. Sidenote: The head doctor has a ton of creepy pictures of himself on lavish vacations with celebrities all over the clinic. Made me feel like we were financing this guy's dream Hollywood lifestyle.

Falls road is the closest 24 hour vet that sees rats, so when our little guy was barely breathing and we were panicking we decided to take him here. When we arrived the first thing i noticed was how the wall was plastered with pictures of the owner of the Animal Hospital with various celebrities. The next thing I noticed was how they probably hadn't updated the interior since 1970. I could immediately tell this guy probably had a poor moral compass (and vanity to spare) based on these two factors - but we really felt helpless at this point so we decided to give them a chance. We immediately handed our little guy over to them when we got there, and they took him back to check him out. After about an hour of waiting, a vet tech presented us with one option, which was to have him stay overnight with them (which included all sorts of treatments) to the tune of nearly $2k. At no point did they even mention the option of putting him down, and I know that's because they would have made no money doing that. We brought him home, and the next day he died in my hands as I tried to keep him warm and comfortable. We approached my sister in-law about the incident because she worked as a vet tech for years, and she was disgusted and appalled. This place runs an immoral practice that places more importance on profit than giving good care. Avoid them at all costs. Also, what vet-hospital owner turns the waiting room into a shrine for themselves? Guy is a joke
