My dog, Emmy, not even 3 years old, had 2 prior surgeries by an orthopedic surgeon, that I adored. First at 6 months, a TPLO, right hip. Then a TPO left leg last fall. When she injured her right knee, I called this surgeon, but he had left the practice. So in my search to find a qualified surgeon to do a TPO on her other knee I asked a friend if she knew any veterinary surgeons that she may have used for her dog. She proclaimed, Dr Honor Walesby at MVSS! I called and was quick to get an appointment. Rita is a terrific receptionist. Our meeting with Dr Walesby couldn't have been better! Emmy loved her, and I had the utmost confidence in her. She explained the procedure so that lay people would understand. The surgery went wonderfully, and now we are on the mend...A+++ for this practice. The practice fees are not ala carte, so you aren't burdened with extra fees for xrays, blood work, rechecks, etc. One can spend so much more at other practices, believe me, I know!! Your animal is in good hands with Dr Honor Walesby!
Dr. Walesby was very caring and compassionate when I took an injured rescued cat to her in May 2011. She did not complain that he wasn't friendly and was hard to handle. Complicated surgery was performed successfully and instructions for after-care were great! Everything was clear and understandable.
I hope my dog never has to have surgery again, but if I do, I'd let Dr Walesby do it every time. My yorkie was attacked by a larger dog, and while I was in the midst of a meltdown, Dr Walesby stayed very calm and took the time to sit and explain to us exactly what was going on with my baby. She thoroughly explained the damage, what she found during surgery, and how she fixed those problems. She made herself available for questions and concerns I had at any time, and when it was time to come home, his discharge instructions were amazing. Everything is explained in great detail, she provided a timeline on what we needed to do as far as followups, and she has been available for questions even after he's come home. She saved my pup's life.
Dr. Walesby has performed surgery on several rescues for us, and I have also referred friends to her for treatment of their pets. She is a skilled surgeon and we have all been impressed by her warmth and compassion as well. Her receptionist Rita is wonderful, as are the vet techs. Note on the negative review from a disgruntled client of Dr. Sooy's: I never had a bad experience with Dr. Sooy, but in any event, he is now deceased and Dr. Walesby owns the practice.
Prior to surgery, Dr Sooy performed no blood testing, , did not review any medical history and did not test for any other possible medical conditions. Our dog almost died as a result of infection that he ignored. He has a record with the Vet Medical Board Choose a real Vet!!
