We've been taking our cat to Pet Vet since we adopted him 12 years ago. They came recommended by a close friend who arranged the adoption and dropped the cat off on our doorstep. Overall we have had a very positive experience with Pet Vet. Both doctors and staff have been welcoming and very helpful. Most recently, we've had several positive exchanges with Dr. Hall and Dr. Caplin regarding treatment for our cat. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services.

I feel safe taking my pets to Dr. Caplan and Dr. Hall. They take their time and ask many questions. My extended family takes their pets here as well, we all have the same impression. Also, if required, a full range of treatment options are presented with all trade-offs explained. Finally, the techs and front office folks are friendly and knowledgeable as well. I learn things every time I come here.

My family has been going to this pet vet since we moved here in 2000. We've never had any problems with them. Of the two Doctors tho', I would recommend Dr. Kaplan. After my old dog died due to old age, we started taking our new puppy there. About 2 months ago, my dog started having skin problems, and we were not sure what the cause was. Dr. Kaplan offered the least invasive and inexpensive methods for determining the cause of the problem, which was very helpful to me as I've only recently started working and cannot afford a great deal of extra expenses. He only recommended the more powerful and expensive options, such as lab tests and medicines, only as a last resort. We did end up having to eventually do the tests and give the pup medicine, but it was the VERY LAST thing we tried. Now my puppy is being treated and is well on his way to recovery. I don't know about cats, but this is a great place for dogs - provided you get Dr.Kaplan. I haven't had much luck with Dr.Hall.

First, let me say that Google forced me to join yet another of their idiotic services before I could post this. Suffice it to say, I am not John Smith. I have taken my two, very dearly loved miniature Poodles to Pet Vet for many years, starting in about 2004 or so immediately after the Columbia Animal Hospital did their best to kill one of my girls. I have found both doctors Hall and Kaplan to work to the highest standards. They are honest and completely forthcoming in recommending specialists when needed. They have never suggested more than the most conservatively safe approaches. When bad situations occur, they are on top of it and offer you informed choices. They do not rush you or pressure you in any manner. One of my beautiful girls is dying of cancer now, and they have been correct diagnostically and guided me to the best experts in the area. You can rely on these doctors. I have read a few other reviews and I am astonished at the few negative ones. I suppose it is easy to not understand or to fail to take accountability for one's decisions, but I sincerely doubt that either of these doctors ever became angry with an owner unless the owner richly deserved the reprimand. I find it not believable that they would insist on any procedure that is not needed. They always explain the range of choices I face, and only make strong recommendations when I ask for their best advice. I am a Ph.D. research engineer in biotech. I do not fool easily. These doctors care for the two creatures I love the most in this world, and I trust them.

I brought my cat in because he was vomitting and itching. They told me to let them do explorative surgery ($1,000). They cut my cats stomach open and looked around, did not find anything, and then after I pay them the money they tell me it was just a common food allergy and tell me I have to start buying some special food from them that costs $60 a bag. My cat went through a tremendous amount of pain and major surgery for a food allergy??? And no, they never apologized or admitted to negligence in any way. Terrible doctors. Do NOT go there. Seem very greedy and dont seem to care about the welfare of the animals as much as you would expect.
