I chose 1 star because I had to. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to take their dog to Banfield. Very overpriced and the only thing they care about is trying to sell you the Wellness plan. We paid over $200 for x-rays just for the vet to tell us he couldn't exactly tell us what we're looking at, but that for $180 we could get them sent out to be looked at by professionals. We had to leave my dog there while they did tests; we got the call saying she was ready to be picked up (we live 5 minutes down the road) and when we got there we had to wait an hour and a half before we could go back and then wait another 15 minutes for the vet to come in the room. We left still without an answer of what exactly was wrong with her. Absolutely will never bringing my dog back here.
My experience has been fair. I have two cats and signed up for the wellness plan. While the veternary care has been ok, one of my cats just dropped off of their radar. They just stopped notifying me that he needed to come in for any services so he now goes to a different vet. Regarding the wellness plan, I absolutely agree with the other comments above. It seems everytime I bring my cat in, they find something else to charge me for thats not coverered by the plan. So I'm also going to change vets once his wellness plan coverage expires.
Dr. Rebecca Mike has been our dog's vet since she was 8 months old. She is knowledgeable, caring, and not just seeking to spend your money. She has kept our English Bulldog healthy and happy. She is well versed in our specific breed. Great vet! A+++
This place, since day one, has done nothing but make my skin crawl. I made the HUGE mistake of signing up for the "wellness" plan and then having it auto-renew...which, by the way, no one at Banfield will tell you up front. Every visit we made was a complete disorganized and untimely mess. Appointments mean nothing to these people. They will take you into an exam room with your pet, sit you down and shut the door. I've sat in that room for upwards of an HOUR before a tech even came in. I took my dog in for a possible hind leg problem as she was limping and immediately it was suggested I get x-rays. $300 x-rays. I told them no, and left to get a second opinion, which was to put her on Rimadyl for 10 days and see how she reacted. BINGO. She was fine. $10 was all that cost me. That vet also reviewed my records from Banfield and told me that a few of the vaccines hadn't even been proven effective, yet my dog was receiving them and I was paying for them. AND they insist you get dental cleanings yearly. I worked at a very reputable vet clinic for years and dental cleanings were suggested for older pets, rarely under the age of 6. My dog was a year and a half when the vet at Banfield insisted on it. You expect to be able to trust a veterinarian, but you get a really icky feeling leaving this place. Its a sales position and they truly are not there to care for your pet as much as they are to convince you to pay for additional services. I have left there with an invoice that had services that we "saved" on that we didn't even receive. CHECK THESE INVOICES CAREFULLY. The day that I cancelled the Wellness Plan (which I had to pay an early termination fee) I had to go back into Banfield to get my dog's medication (that they explained couldn't be reached the evening before at my appt???) and a tech brought it out and told me to give it to her twice a day. My dog had been on this medication for 2 years (prescribed at Banfield) and she had NEVER received it more than once a day. That validated my decision and made the cancellation fee worth every penny. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Horrible customer service!! We took my daughter's beloved sick gerbil there for a sudden bleeding tumor. I will admit Dr. Mike was very compassionate in offering treatment and doing what could be done. The tumor was inoperable, but if we could heal the wound my daughter would have more time to say good-bye. $85 later, we went home to care for it. When we were called to remind us of our follow-up visit, I specifically asked if there was a charge. The woman told us to hang on, then returned to say that no, since it was a follow-up there would be no charge. I had no intention of paying more money just to be told either keep doing what we're doing or it's time to talk about other options. So, when we went to our appointment I again inquired as to a fee for follow-up because I hate surprises. I was mortified to be told that yes, there would be a charge of $35! When I told them of my specific inquiry the day before, I got the lovely response of, "Did you get a name?" Since I had not, the manager persisted in requiring the fee. Remember, this is to take a 5 second visual look at a wound to see if it is healing. Apparently the manager preferred to ASSUME I am a liar instead of that someone on their part made an error. We left without being seen, and I had to explain to my distraught daughter that we can not allow people to take advantage of us when our emotions are involved. We will not use a company that assumes we are lying just so they can collect a petty fee. They have lost our business forever, and I am being vocal in letting others know that Banfield cares more for MONEY than their customers! Shame on you Banfield. Dr. Mike, please find another employer before your reputation is destroyed.
