While I think the staff is competent they are completely unwilling to tolerate questions or take owner finances into consideration. Front desk staff are dismissive of questions and will only ask followup questions of the vet when pressed. Interactions on the phone are curt, bordering upon rude. Nice facility, but I'd rather interact with more caring, less abrasive staff that truly listens to the customer.
My dog got hit by a car Sunday night. I took her to a 24 hour animal hospital that would not help her because of my financial situation. The next morning I called VCA lewis and explained my situation. They did not call. All they said was to bring her in immidiately and they just wanted to make sure she was OK. Right off the back, I could feel a change in environment from the place I was at last night. I brought her in. They took Xrays and saw what was wrong with Nala. They referred me to a surgeon because they admitted upfront that a specialist would have more knowledge of how to fix her than he would. Instead of trying to take my money, they put Nala's interests for. They are caring and loving people. There's not many like them left!
Excellent hospital I visited this hospital yesterday with my Daisy(black lab) yesterday for Spay. The staff at the front desk were excellent. All of them greeted Daisy and I could tell she was very happy too. The nurses were very through with the instructions post-op. The operating doctor called me right after the operation to tell my Daisy was doing fine. Thank you for the wonderful treatment.
It's a rather large practice. The staff is great and they are very friendly. Evening appointments get me in and out on time. All the vets are nice but some of them come off more like a used car salesman gather than a DVM. Some of the vets are very layed back about the "optional" tests and others make it sound like they are not optional. My average visit for each of my 2 dogs is around $300 each (for a well dog) and I opt not to buy their over priced heartworm meds and flee and tick preventitive. I am looking for a cheaper vet in Columbia.
