I have had a great experience here. I am a firm believer in "less is more" and "treat when there is a clear benefit, not just to make me feel like I'm doing something." At other vet's office, medications and treatments were thrown at me for every ailment. When I tried to refuse medications that I felt would be of little benefit, the vet would actually try to make me feel like a bad owner. Although the vets here will offer aggressive treatments, I have never felt pressure accept any of them. I feel that they have always given me an accurate assessment of the situation, and this has allowed me to make my own decisions regarding the plan.

Dr. Krishna is an outstanding vet. She is super competent, a fabulous diagnostician, scrupulously honest, and best of all makes patient care her first priority. She puts nervous animals at ease, but doesn't coddle her human clients: she's a straight-shooter who tells it like it is. She will tell you *what your pet needs* you to know, whether it's what you wanted to hear or not. She is open to holistic approaches and yet firm about why/under what circumstances they are not appropriate. I’ve been to cardiologists, neurologists and orthopedists who all had heard of her and clearly respect her. Dr. Krishna performs surgery as well as routine care HERSELF - your pet will not be passed to an inexperienced vet tech. Dr. Krishna, not a tech, will draw your pet's blood, and she will do so in front of you. No dragging your scared pet off into "the back"! Nor will you be subjected to an endless loop of TV advertising while you wonder what's really going on back there. In fact, the waiting room at SSAH is a little cramped (though you rarely wait long), records and appointment schedules are not electronic (though you will get a printed n itemized receipt for payment), and this is because she runs her practice like a medical treatment facility rather than a business that happens to involve animals. The care my 3 dogs have received at Silver Spring Animal Hospital over the last 2+ years has been SUPERB. This includes care for a dog with somewhat extreme behavioral issues. For what it's worth, I believe the cost of care is lower here than many places. Personally, I tried out 6 vets in this area before I found Dr. Krishna, and I fully expect to work with her for many years to come. I can be a difficult character, and I am fairly sure that any records other vets have on my animals have a notation for "high maintenance owner". I won't settle for sub-par care, and you don't have to either. This high-maintenance owner couldn't be happier to have found Silver Spring Animal Hospital!

After having a multitude of problems with our previous vet, we decided to try the Silver Spring Animal Hospital on Seminary Road. Thus far they have been aggressive in diagnosing the patients (my dog) injuries and illness, they have given us good references to an animal radiologist, they consistently check up on the status of their patient, and they have been active in every aspect of taking care of the patient. They are excellent!
