Can someone tell me how a vet can hear a heartbeat and feel a puppy moving when the puppy had to be dead? And might I add dead for well over 24 hours!? A c-section was performed by the regular vet and a dead decomposing puppy was the result. The whopping infection may kill her. If ever there was an emergency this would be it! And you didn't even recognize it. Shame on you. All I can say is thanks for giving me your best shot at killing my dog.
We have a cat that had a urinary blockage over a weekend. We brought him in very late Saturday evening when we noticed he was in a lot of pain and could not get comfortable. They were very friendly and started working on him immediately. They were very upfront about the cost and spelled out everything before anything happened which was nice. All of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and clear about everything. He had to stay over two nights and they gave us a call to keep us posted on how he was doing. Overall, we had a very good experience at this place and it is nice to know we have a place close by that we can take our pets if something happens when the vet is closed.
Dr. Owens was wonderful... Very professional and caring. I brought in a kitten with a broken jaw. All staff members that we met were friendly and courteous. Rates were reasonable and the facility was clean and tidy. Very similar to the Frederick emergency vet in policy and operation.
I had to bring my cat to this clinic on new years eve. Her paw was bleeding a lot and had a rather large wound for her small size. We brought her here until we were able to take her to our regular vet. They took my cat into the back room before we even saw a veterinarian or a technician, and before we could speak to any of the staff (aside from the front desk woman) about our concerns. The veterinarian that eventually saw us was VERY rude. He came into the exam room and started listing off all of these procedures that he "recommended" be performed and when asked the cost it was going to be over $1,500. My family and I spoke about the costs and decided that it wasn't going to be possible to everything he listed and asked just for pain medicine and for the wound to be bandaged. When we informed the veterinarian of this he instantly got an attitude like he was appalled that we weren't going to instantly pay that much money and more or less stormed out of the room. We were informed of nothing else until a technician brought our cat back to us in the front lobby, who was actually kind and possessed people skills.
I had a positive experience here. My dog had a reaction to her annual vaccines after our primary vet office had closed. The vet, techs, and receptionist here were very professional and my dog was seen in a timely manner. Dr. Slajchert explained what was going on, what the course of action should be, any options I had, and what the costs would be. Fortunately, my dog's reaction did not require critical care and she is recovering nicely. I spoke with my primary vet the following day, and she agreed with everything Dr. Slajchert did in caring for my dog. I consider their under $200 charge reasonable as compared to my former local pet ER which charged a flat $500 for just walking in the door. I will use CCAE in the future for my emergency pet needs.
