Our female rottie, Bella, was brought in for surgery. Not only was the staff super nice and comforting...I felt the techs and the doctors went beyond our expectations in caring for her. They were all very honest and warm when it came to her care and letting us know everything that we would expect before, during, and after her surgery. They kept my husband and I in the loop as soon as her surgery was finished in the early AM and again later in the morning with her recovery update. Our Bella is home now and recovering and we can't thank the staff, techs, and doctors enough for their care for our Bella! Heartfelt thanks a million times!!!!!!!

We needed to use Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid-Maine last night to euthanize our beloved family pet of more than 18 years. It was an unexpected need. We were concerned about the reviews posted via Google but had no choice in visit due to proximity to our home and need for urgent help. The staff was caring and delicate with our needs. Pricing was very in line with prevailing Vets. We were glad to have had a great experience considering the nature of our devastating needs. We also observed a client ahead of us who was just receiving their canine back after what appeared to be a porcupine encounter. Dog and owner appeared well cared for as well as comforted. I would certainly return to this Vet as well as recommend them.

I don't even want to give one star. We had brought our 19 year old cat here to be put to sleep and was told with the group cremation we would receive some remains. When I called 3 weeks later to find out when I could pick up the remains I was told that there were no remains to be returned. This was never explained to us. The manager Deborah Clark was very unsympathetic and if that wasn't bad enough she sent me a letter explaining how a communal cremation works. I hope that their staff will be better trained in the future to explain not on paper but in person when people come in with their beloved pets. Although I did say this to Deborah Clark and she told me her staff was very well trained. What is wrong with someone asking "You do understand that with group cremation you will not receive any remains?" I know we have become a society where we only communicated on texting, email, facebook but in circumstances like this its best to actually talk to your customers, etc.

I have been to this clinic many times, both with my pets and those of others. I have also called them numerous times to inquire about situations and see if they could wait until the next morning or needed to be attended to at once. They have never been anything but helpful to me and I cannot say a bad thing about them - only good, good, good. They helped a friend who discovered a pet in sudden dire straights, and plainly and clearly described the options for the decision that had to be made. They also helped me on one occasion with a non-emergency situation that was rather gross and awkward, something I felt was above and beyond. Please bear in mind a few things when it comes to an emergency clinic. First, they typically deal day in and day out with tough cases. Likely the only exception to non-dire cases that they get to see are folks with little to no money, which is not much of a break from the sadness of dealing with sick or injured animals all the time. They either see sick or injured animals or those owned by folks who cannot pay. Plus, those folks without much cash are pleading for help with the money situation. I know for a fact that the clinic does plenty of charitable work for free or at a reduced price, however, they cannot do everything for free or at a reduced price. If they did, they would no longer be able to stay in business, and then where would we all go when we have an emergency after our regular vet's hours? The emergency clinic serves a need for Lewiston Auburn that not many years ago went unfilled. No, they don't do it for free or for dirt cheap or offer payments plans, but they do care for pets and care for them very well and as a pet owner, I can certify that they have always been kind, helpful, informed, and pleasant to me as well as anyone else I have gone there with.

I called this place because my cat had a breach kitten stuck in the birth canal. They refused to answer my questions, insisting I bring the kitten in, and to make sure I had the money for whatever procedure available immediately. I asked if they would take payments, and she said if I didn't pay up front, they wouldn't even see my cat. They were more concerned with getting money than helping my poor animal. We were able to help deliver the kitten ourselves, so all is good now. But I am infuriated about money being more important than the health and well-being of a pet. An EMERGENCY service should be willing to let people pay within a certain amount of time (say, 30 days). Needless to say, I will never bring my pets there.
