I have been using the Cat Doctor since I moved to Maine in 1983. Dr.Givins is wonderful. I had moved away and when I came back I got my cat Tigger, who almost died and the treatment that he received at the Cat Doctor was so amazing. I could come visit with him while he was having to stay as he was so sick. The attention he received form the staff was so caring. So it was only fitting that when Tigger's Kidney Disease brought him to the point where his life was no longer sustainable and I had to make that hard choice, that it was at the Cat Doctors that I took him to, to leave this world peacefully. Again Dr. Givins spent some quality time with me in their nice little sitting area away form the lobby and helped me come to grips with this hard choice. Tigger has now gone ahead to wait for me in the after world and I am so grateful that I was, thanks to the Cat Doctor, able to let him go peacefully. I would trust all my cats to the Cat Doctor. We love this practice! If you absolutely believe that felines are special, then you'll appreciate the way your cats are handled here. So loving and respectful. They will purr and purr.

Our cats have been patients at the Cat Doctor since 1997. We have always been more than satisfied with their care. Dr. Givens is our favorite vet, but all three are professional and competent. The Cat Doctor is not inexpensive, but the prices are fair and the vet will go over the estimate with you and explain what is involved. We very much like the fact that they only treat cats.

I've only been living in Portland for five months and have seen three of the veterinarians and they all are professional and knowledgeable. The staff is also knowledgeable and helpful. I don't know who these grumpy reviewers saw, but I never saw anyone receive that kind of treatment when I was there.

It's nice to finally find human doctors that "get" cats--as much as a human can. They are firm, but very gentle. They don't do unnecessary stuff and my human says she doesn't have to pay a lot to have the Cat Doctors make sure I haven't done any permanent damage to myself with my latest escapade.
