I just got home from visiting this vet, and felt I absolutely needed to write a review immediately. I really, really liked this vet. He is calm, thorough and gentle and made my dog feel very at ease. The vet tech, Lauren, was really wonderful, too. The appointment was quick but all of my questions were answered. I firmly believe that Dr. Slack simply does his work quickly so that the animal can leave the office more promptly and therefore be more likely to have a positive association with going to the vet. No one tried to sell me things my dog didn't need (i.e. he has a common affliction that will clear up on its own, and they didn't try to sell me anything under the guise that it would "cure" him.) The staff was very welcoming and enthusiastic, and the office was clean and didn't smell like a vet's office. I'm very glad I brought my dog here.

I will agree with the other review, that he is very brief and acts as though he is not interested in the people or the animals, but he is a brilliant vet. He knows exactly what he's doing, and does it well and fast. The checkup on my kitty when I adopted her last year was very quick and painless for her. It is not true that he is un-compassionate: a few years ago when our previous cat died of cancer, our vet was closed and brought her there. We called to schedule the euthanization, and when we got there, he had put a blanket on the exam table, along with some incense of some sort, and had relaxing music playing in the background. The whole experience was very peaceful for both us, and most importantly, our cat was made to feel comfortable in the last moments of her life. We are moving, and I will miss him as a vet, but wish him all the best.

Dr. Slack is a great vet. He not only has provided great care for my dogs but for my rats as well. Many vets do not take seriously the bond and love that rat owners have with their animals. Dr. Slack is knowledgeable and compassionate towards my rats never making me feel as if they are "less" than the traditional pets (as other vets have). His staff is also great and clearly all love animals.
