On June 27th I took my Shih Tzu Chiquis to her annual exam with Dr. Christine Scott of Birmingham Veterinary Clinic. I told her about my continuing concern for my dog from the previous year in regards to her unrelieved symptoms; frequently peeing, excess of water intake, flaky skin and odor in her ears. She re-assured me that last years exam & blood work had been normal. Now a year later she said she would get more blood work, I suggested she get a urine sample. This came back positive and after XRAY confirmation (a day later) Chiquis was diagnosed with bladder stones as well as a yeast infection on her skin. Dr.Scott prescribed medication for the yeast and suggested we go to another hospital as she did not feel "comfortable" operating on this size stones. Chiquis had her surgery 7/5 at Oakland Veterinary Hospital where Dr.Duncan and all of his staff offered exceptional care for my baby. Chiquis has since had complications; ear infection and continuing bladder infection. She has been on countless medications, received fluids since she has not eaten in 4 days (and counting). Needless to say I am very upset for what I believe is inadequate care that my dog has received and feel that people should be aware of Dr.Scott's practice so that no animal has to go through what Chiquis and my Family are going through.
