I'm new to this area and have been putting off finding a new vet for my kitty. I am so glad I chose them and made an appointment with Dr. Poindexter! The front desk staff are exceedingly friendly and professional. While I was waiting for my appointment I watch the front desk staff handle two potentially challenging situations with grace and ease. It's clear that they care about what they do. When I went into my appointment with Dr. Poindexter, I was a bit nervous since my cat usually does not react well to vets. She was at ease through the whole exam. She did start to get "mouthy" (hissing, showing her teeth), when it came time for the vaccines. This is my cat that I'm used to at vets. The doctor and I gave it an attempt, but it was quickly clear that wasn't working. The doctor, always maintaining calm, called a nurse into help. She was magical! A cat whisperer. She had a perfect technique to calm my cat, and not disturb the injection area. No towel needed. At the end of it, I told them I could have hugged them both! I'm so, so glad I found a perfect new vet for my kitty on the first try.
I wanted to take the time to write how wonderful this office is from the first initial phone call this morning with an understanding staff member named Linda. Dr. Steven Poindexter actually sat on the floor with my wounded dog and pet her for 10+ minutes while he examined her and compasionately discussed my options with me. The ER vet saw no hope for her to heal. Dr. Poindexter took into account what I said about her good mood, and good health otherwise and offered some hope at least in the short term. He seemed to think we could try to heal my old girl with some antibiotics and TLC. She started off as a dog pound dog 15 years ago and has been the best ever. I thought she deserved at least a chance for a little bit more time with us. Some TLC from me and the support of the Vet my family is privledged to have her for at least one more day!! She is worth it! Thanks Again to McLaughlin Veterinary Hospital
I recently had my dog there to have some tumors removed. First the vet would not touch him what so ever even had me open my dog's mouth for him. Once the tumor was removed the doctor could not figure out whether the tumors were cancerous or not that was with sending them to the lab. Now it has been 2 months and there is a tumor in the same place the size of a softball which showed up in less than a week. We took him to MSU they told us just by feeling our dog that he had stage 3 cancer. I would not recommend this vet to anyone!!!
