my beagle was attacked by two other dogs and was seriously injured. the local vet wouldn't even see him since we weren't current patients and brushed us off. Took my baby to AEC and they immediately took him to the back to review his injuries. The staff then did the awesome thing of making sure I was okay! (probably since i was covered in blood and shaking!) My dog was in surgery for three hours and it took 42 staples to close him up. The vet was awesome -- even gave me extra copies of his paperwork if I needed them for a lawsuit. best $1200 I ever spent! Never will question where to go for an emergency again

We were referred to this place by our vet to do a precautionary glaucoma test on our lhasa apso because she had an irritated right eye which we suspected was an eye infection or scratch. The vet at this hospital did an eye pressure test and insisted that our dog did in fact did have glaucoma in both eyes even though the test was skewed because they had to struggle to hold our dog down just to administer the test. I felt skeptical about this diagnosis of glaucoma so my wife even called back before the vet did any treatment and once again the vet insisted that our dog needed glaucoma treatment or risk going blind. When we came to pick up our dog the next day it was revealed that the cause of the eye irritation was in fact a scratch and not glaucoma. This of course wasn't revealed until after they charged us $860 for glaucoma treatment that the dog never needed. The staff working at the front counter is apparently a bunch of part timers because I got to hear about their second jobs and plans for the weekend as I sat in the waiting room for hours. Whenever I asked them a question about the status of our dog the reply was I don't know or I'm not sure or I will have to ask someone else. We only got to talk to the actual vet for a minute or two before she was in the back either doing something else or working with someone else's dog. Overall impression of this place is that they are just trying to move dogs in and out without taking the time to diagnose the actual problem. They are more interested in making sure they charge you the maximum amount of money they can before they find the real cause of the problem. Definitely won't be going back to this place and would not recommend it to anyone else.

I took my 14-year-old lab mix to the Animal Emergency Clinic today after he suddenly fell several times, had great difficulty getting up, couldn't walk straight, was drooling excessively, and lost control of his "body functions." Mind you our regular vet is very happy to conveniently take our money during normal business hours but does not wish to be inconvenienced otherwise, so I was thankful to have a resource such as the Animal Emergency Clinic available to evaluate my pet. I called ahead and was voluntarily given the fee information over the phone. The staff--from the front desk receptionist to the technicians to the vet--were caring, wonderful and professional. As well as the vet being very thorough, also finding my dog was dehydrated and running a temperature. Throughout the process my son and I were given treatment options and costs, time to discuss them, and make a decision under no pressure. Yes, it turned out to be expensive, but so is my regular vet very expensive and I feel not as thorough (perhaps time to switch?), charging more than my physician costs me on a cash basis. I agree that one has to expect higher charges for emergency care for a pet, the same as emergency care for a person costs more. I am not well off, living on a limited fixed budget but feel the care given my 14-year faithful buddy was worth every cent. Given the need, I definitely would use the Animal Emergency Clinic's services again.

My cat was bit by another cat when outside and got an infection resulting. I took him to this emergency vet for treatment. At the time they inspected my cat thoroughly including a rectal thermometer test. Now, a month later, my cat is showing symptoms of tapeworms, which is contracted through fleas that have come into contact with tapeworm eggs. My cat has spent the entire last month indoors, and now has symptoms, so its fairly easy to deduce my cat contracted tapeworms through this vet. When I asked them about it and to try to treat the cat and make things right, considering I paid 316 dollars for them to give my cat an oral antiobiotic, oh and tapeworms and fleas. STAY AWAY.
