This will be the first Google places review I’ve ever done but the service I receieved at Platz Animal Hospital was so exceptional that I feel obligated to share it with others in my community. Having just moved back to the area after a couple years in Ann Arbor I found some lumps on my Pointer that looked concerning, After first taking him to the “other” Grosse Park Pointe vet, where I was treated poorly by staff and referred to a specialist, on the advice of a few friends I sought a second opinion with Platz. Dr. Gino first saw my boy and confirmed that he would need surgery and ran blood work that was not done at the other place, but should have been. Thankfully Platz has an onsite lab so I wasn’t waiting anxiously for results and his blood work looked good. I was seen on a Friday and scheduled for surgery on Monday, having requested Dr. Platz. That morning the doctor sat with me and thoroughly looked over my dog’s sites and assured me that he would be able to get good clean margins around both tumor sites. I was able to pick him up after the surgery at 2 that afternoon. My boy had a cone on when I picked him up, but Dr. Platz came out personally and told me how the surgery went and how he did, and then recommended I put a childs shirt over Lou in order to replace the cone, which I found very useful and considerate. As I waited anxiously over the next 6 days for pathology to come back and find out what stage the cancer was I called repeatedly every day after Thursday and the girls were always understanding and let me know no results were in. By Saturday I was really going crazy and luckily on Sunday Dr. Platz called and explained the results, and told me what to watch for in the future. Lou’s prognosis is good, but I was so impressed that Dr. Platz took the time out on a Sunday to go the extra mile and put an end to my anxiousness. I repeatedly found excellent care from the staff and both doctors there, and I couldn’t be more pleased that I found a vet where the staff understands just how important my dog is in my life and treats me accordingly. I was here today for the first time with my sick leopard gecko and they took great care of us. The staff was wonderful from the time I walked in till the time I walked out. They are very personal with you, your animal and how you are charged for their services. I will not be going any where else! Thank you to the staff and the doctors, I will keep you updated.
