I was given 2 stray cats awhile back. I'm a college kid, so I don't have much money but i've always made sure to get my pets the proper heath care. The cats were in pretty rough shape at the time and with KL's help, I was able to get them healthy again. I was totally impressed with KL and with Dr. Dame. He took time to answer all of my questions. They have such a caring staff and really take pride in what they do. They'll make sure you're completely informed of your pets health and treat you with total respect. I love this place. Sure, it's not cheap. But the service is worth every penny. Best vet I have EVER been to. I wouldn't take my cats anywhere else.

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Dame for 15 years! He and his staff are so caring. They always follow up by phone and are incredibly accommodating. (However, I would not recommend the other vet, Dr. Hammel - sorry!) I also have a dog and started taking him to Milwood Animal Clinic since they are owned by the same people. Nothing compares to Dr. Dame! I also work with individuals with disabilities and one person has cats that she takes to KL Cat Hospital. The staff know her situation and that she doesn't have any discretionary income. They are so respectful to her though and never make her feel as if she cares less for her cat because she can't afford things. They allow her to pay whatever she can on her own schedule. I can't say enough about the good people there! I drive all the way from south Portage because it's worth it!

I recently took my 7 month old kitten to the KL cat hospital to get a seccond oppinion on an ear infection she has had for the last 5 months that the Milwood Animal Clinic (also owned by the same people as KL) was unable to make progress in treating. I was seen by Dr. Hammel, who didn't bother to even look at my kitten. The first thing he said was that he was actually less intelligent than the doctor I had been seeing at Milwood and had proceeded to call her before I even arrived for my appointment that morning. Together they had apparently decided how my cat was going to be treated, so really this was no second oppinion at all. He then told me I wasn't smart for switching vets in the middle of treatment and then perscribed my kitten a cream which the other vet and him agreed would probably fix her ear problem. He wrote me a perscription which was actually for a human exema cream and I filled it at a local walgreens. The small tube of cream cost me 130 dollars. I used it every 12 hours for two weeks like he said and it did nothing. Eventually I moved to Holland and got a different vet who said he didn't know why I was perscribed that cream in the first place. It was a waste of money and pure torchure for my kitten who a few days after the 14 day treament ended up having the ear infection spread to her inner ears and caused her to not be able to walk or even stand up without falling over. Long story short, Dr. Hammel doesn't have a clue about treating cats and will only consult other doctors and treat you and your cat like crap. AVOID THIS PLACE AND FIND A DOCTOR THAT CARES!

Dr. Dame and his staff are so caring. I have taken my cats to KL for years and they really do a great job. Dr. Dame always spends extra time answering all of my questions. They have rearranged their schedule to fit me in when I have had emergencies. They even call me back to see how my cats are doing after their appointments when they are sick.
