Dr. Graves was highly referred to me recently. She has a good reputation as an avian vet. My Africian Gray Parrot was mauled by my dog and I needed help Sunday morning. I called their emergency number and had a call return by a vet with no avain support. Dr. Graves was not on call this weekend. I have no problem with that. My problem is that the emergency support service and the vet that called me could not provide referrals. Dr. Graves, starting the moment you hear about this entry, put supports in place that tell the community that you are doing everything possible to help a potential client get prompt medical attention for their loved one and tell your team of vets and emergency support people to whom you would refer avian care in case you are absent. Sadly, Phoebi died this morning. I would rather it had happened on my way to Gaylord, Traverse City or wherever than while I was on the phone looking for an avian vet. Please learn from this and do something about it.
