If I could give them zero stars I would. They would not give me a written prescription for a medication that I could not afford and forced me to buy it from them. They charged me $45.00 for 2 weeks of medicine, then I found out I could have gotten a month supply for $8.00 from Target. They diagnosed my dog with heart disease and would not show me the x-rays. After the medicine they put him on made him sick, I took him to Northwood Animal Hospital for a second opinion. It turns out that my dog does NOT have heart disease after all. The vet at this clinic showed me the x-rays and explained to me exactly why he definitely does not have heart disease. Shame on Banfield Pet Hospital for raping their customers financially and completely mis-diagnosing my pet and putting him on medicine that actually made him sick. They took a year of my dogs life away from me instead of helping him. Take your pet to Northwood Animal Hospital or any other vet for that matter.
We had a wonderful experience! Very convenient, staff is amazing and extremely knowledgeable.
First of all; they fool you with the great idea of their "wellness hours" where you dont have to pay for the visit, but that only works if your pet is actually well, (basically it is only for check-ups and shots). However, they are more than willing to rake you through coals for money whenever anything is actually wrong with your pet. I took my EXTREMELY sick 4 month old puppy to them and they tested him for Parvo. He had suddenly become ill within around 32 hours and we took him to the vet immediately, and for as sick as he was, if he truly had Parvo, he would have tested positive, but he did not. Instead of offering to find another answer... the vets simply scratched their heads and kept telling us how they were sure it was Parvo and they wanted to test again! I could not afford to pay another $90, after all the other fees, for a test that would most likely come out negative, because the way I saw it was that if he were truly infected with Parvo, for as sick as he was... he would have tested positive if that were the true diagnosis. Instead, all they did was put him on fluids and keep him under observation until he died the next morning. Now the only reason I had taken my puppy to this clinic in the first place was because I had seen in the Yellow pages, their advertisement had stated that they "assisted with medical expenses for families in need" and at that time, I was definitly one of those families. When I asked about the assistance however, they looked at and treated me like I was crazy. After my puppy had died in their care, about a week later I recieved a condolances card from the staff where at the bottom it stated "A donation in your pets name has been made for families with pets who need financial assistance" !!!!! I was furious. So I will never trust Banfield with my pet again.
