We have both of our dogs on the Optimum Wellness Plan and have been more than satisfied with the level of care they have received from Dr. Davis over the last two years. Their staff is caring and thoughtful and I always come away feeling good about every interaction I have. We've had no complications or issues with either of our dog's following procedures or surgeries. I would highly recommend this branch. Great service!
I am writing this review based on my first and only visit to Banfield in Eagan. I signed both of my dogs up for the comprehensive wellness plan (RIP OFF!). The best way I can describe how the Eagan Banfield works is like a car dealership. Basically they sell you on this wonderful plan that will ensure you pets health, blah, blah, blah. I understand that this plan in NOT pet insurance but a comprehensive plan (like a maintenance plan for your vehicle at the car dealership). However, when I returned to pick up my pets (after they were required to be there ALL DAY) I was confronted by Doctor Mueller and explained how both of the dogs needed dental cleanings, ear cleanings, and how one lab result from the blood work came back "slightly elevated" and I would need to spend $40 on vitamins and then pay another $50 for more blood work in a month. Just like the car dealership, yes the visit was covered but you should probably do a transmission flush, power steering flush, etc. etc. You WILL be upsold and guilted into paying for things you or your pets don't need. This was basically made out to not even be an option so I bought the vitamins and returned home to find nothing on my paperwork that described what Dr. Mueller explained to me in person. I called and received a long drawn out speech about why it was important (by the way, it was 120 and the normal range is 10-100...range = 90. ). I have since gone to another vet to confirm it was indeed bullcrap. I have canceled my optimum wellness plan and get to pay $280 for "services performed" that I havent paid for yet in my monthly payments (that means the initial visit was somewhere between $400-$450 for both!) Long story short, you will be made to think you need to spend copious amounts of money on things that aren't necessary. You will be made to feel like you are a bad pet parent even if your pet is in good health. And on top of all that money you are paying, you wont even get a full summary that you paid for. Dr. Mueller, especially, can't explain the difference between a paw and tail. STAY AWAY from this commercialized "franchise" and stick to the small town docs that are willing to help you if you're in a pinch or give you alternatives to expensive medicine. Take your animals to someone who actually cares
I have had many different types of pets and lived in many places and found that Banfield is in general very convenient, they can get your records anywhere in the country in a matter of minutes with just your name. I have mostly only gone to the Eagan location but i can tell you that they know me and my pets by name and genuinely care. The doctor is always firm and honest with me, which I need seeing as how I know how to keep a dog happy but not healthy. When my little guy got sick I called in a panic the front desk staff asked me to hold, after about 10 seconds my dog's primary Doctor picked up and was ready to listen as if I was the only person in the world. He took the time to listen to my probably unrelated worries. He researched and contacted specialists to make sure my dog got the best care. I decided to wait with my dog for the day even though they probably would have preferred I not watch over their shoulder all day they let me. The front desk girl checked in on me periodically to make sure me and my dog were okay. I recommend this Vet Clinic to everyone I know with a pet!
I am thrilled to have found Banfield Pet Hospital in PetSmart in the town of Eagan, MN. after moving from Chicago, Ill. These guys are as nice as they come and Tucker just loves them. Even after his neuter surgery, he has no problem seeing everyone in this Banfield Hospital and loving them like it was the first time seeing them. I would absolutely suggest checking them out. Good luck with your pets and keep doing it!
We've been taking our dog to Banfield Pet Hospital since we got her as a puppy. We've been to two locations and prefer the one in Eagan. Although yes, the price to pay for services can be high, but not if you have the Wellness Plan as we do. Services are either free or discounted. We LOVE the vets and assistants and they treat our dog great! She never gets nervous when we're there and by the way she acts, I know that she feels comfortable there as well. One time she had an alergic reaction to one of her vaccines. They took such good care of her when we rushed her in frantically and the vet called to check up on her after we brought her home. They really care about your pet!!
