I have been working very closely with Dr. LeMay and the vet tech staff for 5.5 years with my rescue, Happy Hound Rescue. I chose to work with this clinic as they are very rescue friendly and I think Dr. LeMay is an excellent diagnostician. As an RN myself, I have some ability to evaluate the quality of the vet care and I have a great deal of respect for Dr. LeMay and staff. Dr. LeMay is a quiet person, but knowledgeable and he keeps up to date on veterinary care trends, new meds, etc. I have never felt pushed to do procedures or to spend money. He explains the options for each animal and allows me to choose what we are able to do. Don't overlook this clinic because it is on a frontage road. You will be friends and not just clients at Family Animal Hospital.

The staff was friendly and nice to my pet, but the vet seemed nervous and jittery. I was strongly recommended to run my pet through expensive tests and whatnot when in the end the answer and solution to what was wrong was a google search away. yeah im not coming back. my new vet is google unless something serious arises in which case ill search around for a different place.

I have been to this clinic two times, in December 2008. My experience differed greatly from the other reviewers. I fostered dogs for a rescue organization & took one of my charges (Tia) there for diagnosis, and sadly, later euthanasia. I had taken her to another vet who said she couldn't find anything. I knew something was wrong so I asked for a 2nd opinion & the org sent me to Fam Vet. I was impressed that the vet did a thorough exam including an x-ray, not dismissing my report of some symptoms that could have indicated no big problem. Tia had a tumor on her pancreas that had burst. Likely very painful. She didn't have long to live, but could be kept comfortable for a few more days of love and caring before she had to go. I thought that was a very sensitive insight by the vet, for both Tia & I. We left with pain pills and a briefing on signs that would indicate "it was time". We returned a week later for the euthanasia. The vet explained that he used a 2-step process. In order to minimize trauma for the animal & owner, he gave a sedative first. This assured the animal was relaxed and without terror at the process. Tia and I sat on the floor with her head in my lap while she went almost to sleep. She was responsive to my voice & touch. After my signal, the vet came in. Before he administered the shot, he bent down and petted Tia, using a soothing voice the whole time while he gently took her paw and gave the shot. He & the tech assured me that I should take all the time I needed. As usual, I thought I was ready, knew it was the right thing, etc. but I wasn't ready. It was shockingly painful & I took about 20 mins to get it together. This was after 7 p.m. but I never felt rushed to finish because the clinic was closed, Shortly after that, I got another foster, fell in love & adopted Peechie recently. I intend to make this clinic her regular vet (xcept for routine vacs cheaper @ Banfield).. I don't know if this is true, but I was told by another patient that the vet was a part-time staff instructor & surgeon at UM's vet hospital. Whether that's true or not, I feel he is caring and competent. Other members of the staff were pleasant and friendly. One was especially sympathetic.

We had our dog Rosie spayed and they did a good job. They were very friendly and and vet called me to talk about our pup prior to surgery. Prices were on the low end compared to other places when I called around and they were very upfront about pricing no surprises. We will be taking both of our dogs to Family Animal Hospital from now on.

I only spoke with them on the phone but they have very limited hours and informed me that all clinics close at 6pm. Luckily, that is not true and I guess their clients don't work. and I will be taking my business else where.
