This is my first time writing a review for a business, and I feel that this place deserves it. Their charges are the same as any other vet, but the knowledge of felines that Dr. Sue Swanson has is worth more then double that of any other vet that my two cats have ever been to. She was the first vet to identify that my cat needs to start on dental care, as well as discuss some of the long-term issues that my cat will experience due to his breed and the problems he's already had in his two years of life. This wasn't even the best part of the overall experience though. I took my cat here because over the previous month he had gone to two other vets, both times for emergency care due to a blocked uthera. The other vets put him on some very powerful drugs and he even had to spend some time at one hospital while they unblocked him. Their long-term care was to basically change his diet to a diet that isn't all that nutritional for cats, and just hope that it doesn't keep happening again. This is a condition that when it happens, a male cat has 12 - 72 hours to live before their bladder bursts and requires emergency treatment of thousands of dollars. Well I noticed that my cat Buddy started to have smaller sized urine spots in his litter box again, which is a sign that he's partially blocked and will likely reblock totally again. I called the Cat Care Clinic and they had an appointment set for me to bring him in, almost as fast as I could drive there. Dr. Sue and myself discussed his issue, she was inquisitive about his past medical issues, and used her knowledge of western/eastern medicine to give me a very assuring "he will be fine". She prescribed a tincture she made in-house to put behind his ears a couple of times a day, and it's working! It's working so well, that these words can't even begin to describe my joy. I am very thankful for Sue's knowledge and she will be the primary vet for both of my feline family members until they finally pass in another 10 - 15 years.
Earlier in 2011, I discovered the caring and compassionate services of Dr. Sue Swanson. Unfortunately, this was at a very sad time learning my cat of nearly 13 years was diagnosed with cancer. In an effort to seek out any possible assistance (a cure), I contacted her office and received a call back from Sandy the same day. An in-home appointment was scheduled as soon as possible, while balancing surgery at the University of MN. When it came time for my home visit, it was no longer for care, but instead allowing my companion to cross peacefully to Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Swanson and Sandy arrived at my home, being kind not to ring my door buzzer, but instead call my cell phone on arrival. Dr. Sue (as she is known) and I sat on the floor and talked to each other and to my cat. She provided assurance, kindness, compassion and care. While one could never wish this for a first visit and experience, it made a most difficult time caring and full of love. With compassion and grace, in-home euthanasia was performed. A friend who stayed with me referred to this experience as 'dignified and courageous". Following this first-time appointment, I have since returned to Dr. Sue's office with my other cat (also the sibling who lost his sister). Her office is for 'cats only' making the experience that much more peaceful for you and your kitty. Dr Sue spends ample time with you and your cat talking about wellness, and natural remedies and nutrition. My experience can best be summed up by a far-away friend of the family who upon reading about Dr. Sue told me to "Run, don't walk" to her office. And my advice to every cat owner is to visit Dr Sue this week and explore the wealth of information about Holistic Care and healthy nutrition for your beloved cat.
I have four cats and Dr. Sue and her staff are the best I've ever worked with. The prices are extremely affordable, the knowledge reservoir is full spectrum, and the staff is caring, knowledgable and extremely accomodating in a comfortable setting. I drive an hour one way to get there and it's definitely worth it!
I take my 4 cats to Dr. Sue and have been extremely pleased with the quality of care they received. Dr. Sue is an extremely good listener. She calls back when I ever I call in with questions. She has also sold me on the use of homeopathy in the care of my cats. One had diarrhea and bloody stools and the homeopathic medicine did a great job of curing her! Dr. Sue's staff is very friendly and helpful, too.
