We have been going to this clinic since we got our first puppy in February 2011. Nothing but the best care and affordable prices. When we moved to South St Paul in November 2013 we tried a closer vet just for convenience sake; it was a total mistake. We compared this new clinic to Nokomis and realized driving a little further was worth it. Dr Amos and all of the vet techs are super great. You are not over charged and he doesn't push anything (products or services) that are not completely necessary. I had an emergency situation with my cat and had to go to an ER clinic. After being quoted $3-4k and told the surgery must be done ASAP, Dr Amos took my late phone call and scheduled my cat for surgery the next morning at a much reduced price. Dr Amos has also checked up on my little guy 3 times and followed up with an email and phone call regarding lab results. If you live in the area, consider this clinic - you wont regret it!
We bring our dog and cat here, and always feel taken care of. Dr. Amos encourages pet owners to actually care for their pets - brush their teeth and trim their nails instead of paying someone else too. We've learned a lot from him and the staff is helpful when I've called with random questions about the pets.
Pleasant experience. Dr Amos did the initial screening for my rescue, Cosmo. The staff went out of their way to track down Cosmo's history from the humane society. He made sure all is vaccinations were up to spec and recommended appropriate heartworm preventative care. I had to bring Cosmo in for an allergic reaction a couple weeks later. He was losing an extraordinary amount of hair and Dr. Amos properly diagnosed it. We changed Cosmo's food and his hair began to grow back normally again. Last week I emailed the Clinic for advice on chew toys and the Doctor himself followed up with recommendations for Cosmo. All in all I'm pleased with Nokomis Pet Clinic. I'd recommend Dr. Amos to any friend with a pet that lives in the area. He's patient and takes time to explain things in simple terms.
Dr. Amos is not to be trusted. I brought my 9 week old puppy to him naive and open to be the best pet owner ever. I relied on this vet to show me the way to take the best care of my puppy and he failed. He only tested my puppy for heart worm disease when I asked him to when my pup was already 3 years old. He NEVER told me that my puppy needed preventive care for heart worm disease. BEWARE!!!. My pup ended up with heart worm disease. As a new dog owner I was naive about this disease, but more than anything I blame Dr. Amos for his recklessness in NEVER informing me of the dangers of this disease. I IMMEDIATELY found a new vet for my pup. I would NEVER trust this vet. I regret that I ever trusted him. I would like to rate this clinic zero stars but unfortunately that option is unavailable.
