We have been with Banfield Hospital (with Banfield Health Plan Insurance) for about 10 years. We usually take our dog to Banfield, Maple Grove,MN location. But they were to busy and suggest us to try other location. So, we took my dog to Banfield, Plymouth, MN on 4/18/14 for an appointment at 4:45 p.m. We arrived on time. We were waiting at the registerator to check-in for about 10 minute. That was not a problem, we understood they were busy. Then we were in the exam room waiting for the technician for another 20-25 minutes. Then another waiting for the Vet due to some sort of emergency with other dog, that was also ok. What we felt really uncomfortable was this "Dr. S Godding" came in trying to puch us so hard on all kind of exams for over $500, even we told her our dog had the UI before, all we needed were probablly some sort of Urinalysist test and antibolics. Of course, we disagreed some unnecessary tests. Then she told us to leave our dog there and go back to pick her up at 6:45 pm. We arrived on time, then she told us she could not get the sample she wanted it, all the test were not able to complet. There were no treatment or medications, she charged this "Hospitalizaiton Package - Level I for $57.04. She also told us to bring our dog back today (4/19/14) and she would charge us again for another $57.04 for Hospitalization Packages- Level I. Are you kidding me? Repeatlly charges? Our dog was physically only staying in the hospital one hr, there was no so called " Doctor's Supervision or Hospital Team Care" enough for you to charge. We love our dog, but it did not give you any right to rip us off!! I would seriously consider to renew our pet insurance with Banfield on 4/28/14.
The pet plan is a nightmare. The receptionist told me one price when I checked my dog in at 7am and when i went to pick up my dog, 10 hours later, I waited 20 minutes to see the Vet. She told me my dog had an ear infection and it would be 30 minutes and i could go. I didn't have the time... ... This waiting to wait some more has happened 2 times when my pet has been there all day. I go to pay "out of pocket" for my services and was told $72 + tax (during check-in). When i get there the Vet said no it's going to be $440 because the stay was not covered along with blah blah. "you should remain on the pet plan". With a person waiting behind me I figured I would be polite and not cause a scene and make this other Pet Owner wait and take it up with Customer Service. Just got off the phone with customer service who essentially told me I was "Out of Luck". Not cool Banfield. I feel I was tricked (Bait and switch tactic) into renewing my contract. Funny thing is I was warned by one of my Customers (Vet in St. Paul) who i have worked with for 4 years. He said "be careful of the pet plan, it sounds good but lots of people end up getting promised one thing and they end up getting another." I honestly thought "How could a large company affiliated with PetSmart do such a thing. 1 year later I have learned my lesson. Go to a local vet or at least not Banfield your pet won't have to endure 10+ hours in a box all day and the owner will have some extra cash for.... You've been Warned. Check out more HORRIBLE stories about Banfield on Yelp, Yahoo Bing, Ripoff Repot, consumer Affairs and ask you friends on FB what their experience has been. Bad business needs to go.
My fiance and I had an absolutely horrible experience at this location. The vet we had was a woman who acted like she had never dealt with an aggressive dog before. Our German shepherd is protective and isn't the only dog in the world to not like strangers. She tried for not even 2 minutes to "examine" him and quick gave him his rabies vaccine. She was quick to push us out the door when I had questions on his cracked tooth and getting him neutered to only get the response of "we'd be unable to do that here since we don't have the correct sedatives to relax him." I spoke with their manager, Nina, who didn't return my phone calls, and when I did finally get in touch with her she refused to work with me on refunding my office visit fee of $42. The pet exam should have included a total "nose-to tail checkup" to ensure he's healthy - which we didn't receive. He's been to numerous other vets where they were fully able to check him out from nose to tail. I even asked for a partial refund and Nina simply said "it's not our fault you can't control your aggressive dog." I always thought Banfield to be a top place to take your pet, but obviously I thought wrong.
What can be a more difficult trip to the vet than to say goodbye to a loved one? I've been through this before and will likely go through it again. Making this kind of decision for our beloved pets is gut wrenching and sometimes leaves us filled with doubt, guilt and perhaps even regret. There is no greater act of love than to challenge our own humanity in this way. But it still weighs on our hearts and minds. Banfield in Plymouth, as a collective, felt like one large security blanket – yes, I know how that sounds, but needing their services for this purpose breaks us down to our inner child in a profound way. From the moment we arrived together until the moment I left alone I felt comforted. I felt that I was leaving the remains of my BFF of 14 years in safe keeping. What else is there?
It was a horrible experience with a Doctor in Plymouth location. I don't feel good to put my dogs there at all.
