I took my indoor cat in to get a check up after chewing through my screen and getting outside. He only had some minor scratches but I just wanted to be sure he was alright. During the visit my cat's paw stared bleeding so I asked the vet to look at it. She said it looked fine and looked like it was healing even though it was still bleeding. I took my cat home and after about a couple of days you could definitely tell it was not "healing." It was scabbing over and was swollen. I took him back to the vet and then they proceeded to tell me that it was infected and he needed surgery/stitches. I got him the stitches and he seemed fine. They gave me antibiotics for his skin so the stitches didn't get infected. So, external only antibiotics. Two weeks later he started limping on that same paw and it progressively got worse. I took him in to the vet SEVEN times and spent over $1,000 dollars doing x-rays and antibiotics to try and get it better and still got NO answers from Banfield. I recently took him to another vet and after one visit they told me what is wrong. The infection had moved up (internally) to his wrist and was deteriorating his wrist joint. Now it's too late. His wrist joint is basically gone and only being held together by skin. Now, my only options are to spend $5,000 on multiple surgeries and put a rod in his leg or amputate his leg because there is no chance of the joint getting better. All of this could have been prevented from my first visit at Banfield. I would NEVER recommend Banfield for anyone to bring their pets. All they want is your money!

Since adopting my dog 2 years ago and having lived in multiple cities & states due to work, I've seen a variety of Veterinarians for regular check ups, vaccinations, or just to make sure there weren't any serious health issues. Banfield Pet Hospital in St. Louis Park is hands-down the best experience my dog and I have had at the Veterinarian. Dr. Gunderson has seen my dog twice now; once for an initial exam for the Optimal Wellness Plan (well worth the money) and another visit for Dental Cleaning. Dr. Gunderson took the time to sit down with me and clearly explain her procedures and the results afterwards. Dr. Gunderson's confidence & competence in her practice was reassuring, especially as my dog is now older and a Senior. She even found and removed debris in my dog's ears one day AFTER my dog had been groomed, and then showed me how to properly clean my dog's ears. If you go to this location, highly recommend Dr. Gunderson. In addition, the attentiveness of the entire staff at this location is great! Love this Banfield Pet Hospital!

We have had nothing but great experiences at Banfield for both our 2 year old dog and our 6 year old cat. All the doctors and the techs recognize us and our pets every time we walk in and their knowledge and love of animals is obvious. We haven't had any serious issues, but I'm very happy with the care our pets have received for GI issues, minor injuries and preventative care. The wellness plans are an excellent value, too!

They over vaccinated my pet and misinformed me to try and get more money. They lied and said my pet records weren't enough to tell what vaccines he had in the past although I had over 6 years worth of records. They didn't even try to obtain the alleged missing records and proceeded to vaccinate requesting we come in to get more boosters in a short amount of time. We later spoke to another very trusted vet who told us to stay away from banfield. They also tried to sell us an expensive bullshit health plan. In the waiting room they make you watch a video to try and guilt you into bringing your pet more often so they can squeeze more money out of you. They don't care about your pet. If you love your pets, then you'd be better off taking them to a real vet.

When we had first gotten my kitten, she had gotten into something and had a bad wound on her eyelid. We had taken her to the Banfield Pet Hospital immediately. The vet tech had told us that it seemed like the kitten would just need some stitches but she wanted to bring in a vet to be sure and when the vet that had met with us, she told us that the kitten's third eyelid had been damaged and that she would have vision problems if it wasn't fixed. She had told us that we could either pay hundreds of dollars for a surgery or surrender her to our local humane society. No other options.Immediately after that, we went to a new pet hospital where the vet assured us that there had been no damage done to the third eyelid and that all the kitten would need were some stitches, just like the first vet tech had told us. About three years later, the kitten has turned into a cat with absolutely no eye problems. And needless to say, we never brought any of our other pets to Banfield Pet Hospital.
