Our dog Madison a 7 yr. old yellow lab tore her CCL and was in a lot of pain. We took her to see Dr. Mike and he explained several type of treatment. We decided on a TPLO procedure. Madison is very active and playful and we were concerned with how we would keep her calm after the surgery. Dr. Mike explained that County Animal Hospital would help in that regard. She stayed in their care for 2 weeks after the surgery. We would visit almost every day a Madison did great. We think Dr. Mike and his staff did a great job. Now after 17 weeks Madison is almost back to her active and playful self. Thanks Dr. Mike and the staff @ County Animal Hospital.

My 4 year old lab, Bentley, had both knees operated on by Dr. Mike, one last year and one this year. In 2012, he had TTA surgery; in 2013 he had TPLO surgery. He has made full recoveries from both surgeries. For both surgeries, Bentley stayed at County Animal Hospital to receive two weeks of recovery and therapy. I visited him often, and each time, Bentley showed significant improvements in his recovery. The most remarkable fact for me was that Bentley was happy when he was there and he gets excited to go back for check ups. For a dog to go through two operations and recoveries and be excited to return to the office speaks volumes about the quality of care that he received from Dr. Mike and the rest of the staff. This office delivers excellent customer service. Every person on the staff was polite, courteous, greeted us by name when we walked in the door, and gave us individualized attention that made me feel like we were VIP clients. Bentley's TTA surgery in 2012 was our first experience with Dr. Mike. He explained Bentley's condition while referencing his x-rays and explained our options in a way that I could easily understand, given the highly technical aspects of the available procedures. Dr. Mike answered all my questions and took generous time with me and Bentley. Bentley's surgery and recovery went very smoothly. At home, his recovery progressed more quickly than what is typical, probably because of his young age. Bentley would limp for awhile but other than that seemed to make a full recovery. His most difficult challenge was climbing stairs, which he eventually would do regularly. He stopped jumping up as much as he used to. Had I walked him every day to rebuild his leg muscles, that loss may have been prevented. If we were happy with the recovery from TTA, we were blown away by his response to TPLO. In 2013 Bentley injured his other knee, which we expected to happen. This time Dr. Mike and I decided that TPLO surgery was the best choice. Again, he had my confidence in his diagnosis and recommendation for treatment. Bentley's recovery from TPLO surgery went even faster than last year. He never limped, was sluggish, or in any way ever showed signs that he had undergone surgery. He immediately acted like a brand new dog. We had to regiment his recovery at home more carefully because Bentley wanted to run and play right away. He seemed to redevelop his leg muscles much more quickly. Today he runs, jumps, climbs stairs, and generally acts more energetic. My gratitude goes out to Dr. Mike and County Animal Hospital.

We went to Dr. Mike after seeing another Vet who insisted our dog remain in pain until he lost weight before she would do ACL surgery. Dr. Mike explained how dogs do not express pain but that indeed the baby was suffering. He did the surgery utilizing the newest technology and now 4 months later our dog is 100% fine. We boarded him at County Animal Hospital after the surgery where he received tons of tlc. He wags his tail every time we enter the door and loves the staff and kisses Dr. Mike for 5 minutes in each visit. I like that the Dr. sits on the floor with the dog. He also takes as much time as needed to explain everything to us in detail. Everyone at the dog park cannot believe how well and how quickly our dog has healed - they all had horror stories about ACL surgeries on dogs.
