I can't give people any bigger warning than the below. This all started on Fri 12/5, we had to rush my cat to the clinic in the middle of the night. She didn't make it, so we had the clinic send her out to be cremated. The girl that helped us that morning was Very sweet and understanding, she's the only good thing i can say about this place. At the time we were asked to give them contact numbers (we left both of our cell's) and were told her ashes would be returned in 7-10 days. Fast Forward to today. I call and ask if her ashes are back. The girl on the phone looks it up and says oh, she's been here since Mon the 8th. I said WHAT. Why didn't i get a phone call? She said her computer showed they left a message. (Lie # 1) then said oh well sorry about that. I"m pissed, call my husband, he goes up to the clinic to pick up the ashes. He again asks why we weren't contacted, the new person said oh well let me look at the call log. It states that we were trying to call 317-###-#### and couldn't leave a message. (ok so how did girl #1 say they left a message but we didn't come get her) then my husband asks ok so if you couldn't get an answer and couldn't leave a message WHY didn't you contact the 2nd phone # on the paperwork (his cell) they wouldn't answer that question. So needless to say, they left our pet at the clinic because nobody cared enough to check the "call log" against our paperwork to see that st louis area code is 314 not 317 and didn't have the initiative to call the second phone number on the account. I'm beyond upset at this point. My husband asked to speak to the manager when he picked her up and he wasn't allowed. What kind of crap is this. You messed up, he asked to talk to someone in charge and was refused. AFTER you acknowledged that you SCREWED UP! This has just made the entire situation worse. It was bad enough losing our pet, but then to have a careless clinic leave her ashes there for 10 days longer than needed because of this. If a person cares enough to have a pet cremated, then they sure in the He-- do not leave them at the clinic and not come and pick them up. Please beware, i would find a clinic that has procedures and cares about the animals in their care (alive and passed on).
If I could give negative stars I would. My first visit was with nutritionist Dr. Chris Mahn. She was very nice, but was unreliable. She had to research a diet for him. She promised to provide his diet within a couple days. I waited over a week & nothing. I called to check up on it, but unable to reach her. Another week went by. Finally, I received the diet, but had questions. I spent another two weeks trying to reach her. Once I was promised she would call by COB. I waited until 5pm. When she didn’t call, I called the facility & found out she went home. In summary, I pulled teeth for weeks trying to get info & my dog still has not lost weight. She hasn’t even called to check on him. My latest visit I saw Dr. Michael Buss, an oncologist for cancer. Again, I was greeted with unfriendly staff. My dog is old & has been limping really bad. Even though he was limping, Dr. Buss felt it was ok to hit my dog really hard several times on his lower back. I could tell that it hurt my dog. I told Dr. Buss to stop immediately. Being the pompous jerk he is, his response was “that doesn’t hurt him. What hurts him is pressing on a particular nerve like this.” And then Dr. BUSS proceeds to PURPOSELY HURT MY DOG by pressing on that nerve in his back & said “see, now that is what hurts.” How dare this piece of crap doctor hurt my dog! If I tell you not to hit my dog, you sure better stop right now. The fact that he didn’t stop & took it further to hurt my dog to prove a point is beyond ridiculous. I can’t even begin to describe the anger I feel. Later, I asked what type of dog food he feeds his dog. He tells me he feeds Purina Beneful Healthy Radiance. I told him this food is made with really crappy ingredients like corn & by-products (along with many other harmful ingredients like dyes & garlic oil). His response to that was “So what. I don’t care what is in the food I feed my dogs.” At this point, I walked out of the office. To add insult to injury, THEY CHARGED ME $102 TO HURT MY DOG. I will tell everyone my experience.
My dogs are all seniors and we have had to take 4 to MVRC over the last 2 years. We have worked with Dr. Buss, Dr. Willis-Mahn, and Dr. Mahn. All three and the rest of the staff at MVRC are wonderful. We have recently worked a lot with Dr. Buss. He has a natural skill for mixing compassion for your pets and professionalism. Especially Dr. Buss and really the rest of the staff have a way of making you feel at ease during a difficult time. As a worry wart that cares deeply about our pets, it is hard to believe and describe how that is possible. They are specialists and are not cheap, but they are not overpriced for the experience, skill, and customer service they provide for our pets. I fully trust that they are worth every penny and will do everything they can for us and our pets.
My wife I only met Dr. Buss yesterday, but if his bedside manor and attitude are indicative of the outcome then our dog is probably already healed. Dr. Buss was informative, broke the situation down very well, was very real with our options and didn't make me feel like he was trying to sell something. My wife and I both looked at each when we left there and felt like we really understood what our dog had and that he was in the hands of very compassionate man!
We had to take our dog here for a consultation on suspected cancer. Dr. Buss was the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and helpful veterinarian. My mom came with me, and pointed out that she would not hesitate to bring her dogs here if they had any issue, and it is great to know that they have 24 hour support! The staff and techs were also very intelligent and helpful.
