I have been bringing my dog to Aid since I got her as a puppy 8 years ago. Dr. Rowe has been the most compassionate and understanding vet I've ever had the privilege of taking a pet to. He always explains his reasoning for treatments and accepts decisions I make involving my pet's care without criticism. His receptionists and assistants have always been very friendly and helpful as well. As far as other vets in his office, most have been outstanding. There was one vet (who I believe is mentioned in another review) who had very different opinions than I did about my pet's care, but she no longer works there. So, in my opinion, Aid is again an excellent 5+ star facility.

I have been taking my animals to Dr. Rowe for the past ten years. I have rescue cats and a Doberman. All of my animals have issues with their health. Dr. Rowe has always provided exceptional care. Dr. Rowe always explains the situation and gives suggestions for treatment. My Doberman is especially high maintenance when I leave town due to her bonding attachment with me. Dr. Rowe and his staff have to force feed her daily. They keep a weight check on her and monitor her overall health due to her depression even though she is on tranquilizers during my absence. Without this type of expertise, my dog would not be in good health upon my return. He also performs acupuncture on two of my animals for chronic ailments. When he completed his training and suggested this procedure as an alternative to medication, I was hesitant. However, after a number of years of using acupuncture, I am amazed at the quality of life it is able to provide. Best of all, it eliminates or reduces the need for additional medication. Dr. Rowe is very talented and his staff is caring and knowledgeable. If you choose Aid Animal Hospital for your animal's care, you will not be disappointed.

As hopeful as I was visiting this clinic, I was horrificly disappointed. Pam Smith is the most uncaring, selfish, and rude veterinarian I have ever come across. I brought a morbidly obese shelter cat into the clinic 10 minutes before closing on a Saturday because he was experiencing respiratory distress. Blue had had a feeding tube inserted that morning at another clinic, and pulled through a quick sedation just fine (he wasn't sedated like a feline bc of his size and he had a cold). A few hours after coming home, air was coming out around the base of the feeding tube, though the tube itself wasn't pulling air. Knowing it wasn't right, I took him to Aid. Pam argued with me for 15 minutes about his condition, told me to take him elsewhere, assured me he'd survive the trip to another clinic, pulled out her stethoscope, told me his chest sounded terrible, then continued to watch him mouth breath and scream until he died. I assure you I'd have transferred him out if she would have stabilized him. I'm not a vet. I'm not a doctor, but I have a significant medical background, and I don't appreciate being treated like a rabid mother crying over her child's stubbed toe. I understand Blue was not healthy. I understand that it was possible he aspirated that morning. But when a patient asks for oxygen or a nebulizer, please do not deny their request. I know you have an oxygen tank and cannulas. I also informed her that he was having to be suctioned at the other clinic with a bulb syringe to clear his nose. I asked for intubation. "Not while he's awake." I know that. Blue already had an IV catheter in. There is no reason, absolutely no reason why she could not have sedated him whether for intubation or to put him out of his misery. No reason at all. Do not swat my hand away when I'm trying to open the possible trach from another clinic. You suffocated him. And just a minute later, she was asking for the rescue credit card. Ma'am, I'm sorry that it was 10 after 3 by that point. I'm sorry to inconvenience you and your staff. But I hope your conscience eats at you. This is not small town veterinary medicine where an animal passes and it's no big deal. Blue had the backing of the entire rescue community in KC and the media following his story. Sure it's just a cat, but now I have a bonded sister failing to thrive because your indifference killed her brother. I could have accepted that Blue passed away because he was too ill. I could have accepted sedation and euthanasia. Letting him fight his own death for 15 minutes while you were concerned he was going to potty on your table is outrageous. I hope you enjoyed pocketing your $42 exam fee. I could have killed him at home for free. I turned to your clinic for help. Not only did you fail me, but you failed Blue, and that's what hurts the most.

We have been with Aid Animal Hospital for more than 20 years and would not take our beloved pets any where else. We've taken a total of 15 of our pets over the years to Dr.Rowe and associates. We have lost 9 of those beloved pets and Dr Rowe and his staff were there for us every step of the way through the good and the bad, and still are for those who are still with us, No matter what time or day we have needed them they have been there for us with understanding and compassion. We drive 45 minutes to take them to Dr.Rowe for wellness checks to shots to even acupuncture for my cat. We have had to deal with broken hips to cancer, Dr Rowe and the staff has explained all options and answered all questions we needed to give our pets all they need to have a healthy and long life. I highly recommend Dr. Rowe and his staff to anyone who loves their animals as much as we do, You would not find a better Staff and environment, and care than Aid Animal Hospital. Give them a call, you won't be sorry!!!
