My wife and I were told that we were not brushing our dogs teeth good enough and they needed to be cleaned. We took the dogs (Charlie Murphy and Madeline) in for the cleaning. They were going to put the dogs under to complete the procedure. We picked them up and we were told their bloodwork was 100% good and they were great dogs with no problems. The dogs came home groggy, of course, but Charlie continued to get worse. Banfield gave us a report of "things to look for" after the procedure, ironically the same symptoms that Charlie was suffering from. We took them back in the next day as Charlie was real lethargic. The on call Vet told us he "must have eaten something" that has called his stomach to get tied up- or he has pacreatitis. A simple internet search on my wifes phone while waiting for them to return with a "plan to get him well", revealed that Charlie was a minimal risk of pancreatitis as he doesnt eat table scaps etc. But they were (and continue to be) so arrogant that it couldnt have been something gone awry during the procedure- it HAD to be something else. They bring in a plan to get Charlie well- and for the small price of $945.00 MORE thay can see what is wrong with him. I told them that wasnt happening at Banfield, so they decided they would get him re-hydrated and he should feel better. Later that night we rushed a lifeless Charlie to an emergency (real) Vet office and they kept him for three days. He regurgitated while under anesthesia at Banfield and developed pneumonia. I understand that things happen to people pets etc while under- but how can they be so arrogant that they ignored the same warning signs they printed up. 3 days later we picked up Charlie from the Emergency (Real) Vet and gladly paid the $748 charge. Almost 200 less than Banfields plan. The Emergency (Real) Vet gave us a cd of Charlies Xrays and instructed us to see our normal Vet (Banfield) in a week so they can review the XRays to see if he is continuing to improve. Banfield didnt even look at the Xrays during the visit. They didnt need to I guess. The stethascope is a much better tool than an xray I guess. When asked AGAIN about the warning signs, Dr Boyle continues to be arrogant and will not acknowledge the possibilty of THEIR oversight. All I really wanted was a simple apology, but they are not even capable of that. "Optimum Wellness Plan"- I think not. Please, save yourself alot of frustration and MONEY and find a real Vet office that actually cares about your pet (and you). The previous poster is right on the money with Banfields inability to accept ANY responsability for anything.

I took my dog in for a dental cleaning. Since they put him under anesthesia he had to spend the whole day there. He came come infested with fleas! I called and complained and Dr. Polis (sp?) called me back. Her story is that maybe he got the fleas walking through the Petsmart store on the way to the Banfield at the back of the store. REALLY? She said all dogs are checked for fleas when they come in and none had them that day, so he must have gotten them somewhere else. My dog has never had fleas, he spent the day in an observation cage at Banfield, and then he had fleas. It's obvious where he got them. Thankfully I didn't buy that "Wellness Plan" they constantly try to sell you and I can find a Vet that is clean and infestation free.
