We "adopted" (aka, started feeding) 2 stray kittens, a male and a female, about 3 months ago and knew we needed to have them fixed in order to avoid more stray kittens. Since they are living full time outside, and cannot even set "paw" inside the house, I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars getting them shots and surgeries. I called Carol House Quick Fix and they were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I was able to make an appointment for their surgeries the following week, and was given great instruction for drop off and pick up. Since I knew this place was subsidized and in a location that tends to have tight parking, I arrived early for both the drop off and pick up. This is a GREAT place! Yes, it smells like animals, yes, the parking is tight and yes, you have to wait for a bit, but really, I have volunteered for many things in my life and I know how difficult it can be. I was happy to do my part and in the process, basically save $500 that I would have spent taking the kittens to my regular vet (whom I also love, BTW). As a matter of fact, I called my vet before I called Carol House, and they recommended I look into CHQF, since the kittens were strays. The kittens are doing great and I am happy...
Carol House is a rescue that helps people that can't afford a regular vet. To the person that said cheap but awful service. Pay regular price at a vet office then!
I absolutely loved this place. It was very clean, and the staff was super nice! They loved my dogs the way I did and they just met them. We just needed to get rabies shots up to date, so it was nice to go to a place where it is only 15 dollars, with no vet fee! I will say to get there a bit early, both times we didn't have a long wait at all. One time there was nobody there, and the other time there was 4 people there. Overall, its very worth it, they are so nice there.
While the thought is great this place needs some serious fixes. Dropping off they take cats first so persons with dogs have to wait. I waited a month for my appointment and was not told to leave my dog in the car at the time. Someone else apparently didn't know either and then the dogs started barking at one another and this elderly lady greeting everyone basically lectured us that we should have left them in the car. By the way we had just had a MAJOR snowstorm and it was cold outside and I'm not leaving my car running in that neighborhood. There were no signs up at the time either stating that (however, the next day during pickup there was signs). Picking up, I was at the location early and the second car in the lot. They don't let you come in, so I sat waiting in my vehicle. Again it was COLD. The parking lot is NOT sufficient for what they are trying to do. By the time pickup time rolled around all kinds of people who think they are in a bigger hurry than everyone else and more important than everyone else, jumps in line at the door before I even get out of my vehicle. So instead of being 2nd I got bumped way back in the line. Its not fair nor organized. So pick up is at 7:30 am and that days drop off is at 8:00 so parking lot is packed! Lastly, the girl giving discharge instructions is WAY ACROSS the room at the reception desk, basically yelling across about 30-40 feet to the other side of this very large room to where they make you sit. It was so cold and unprofessional. Why couldn't she have walked over and spoke to us in a normal tone instead of yelling across the room? The girl that took my dogs when I dropped them off and brought them to me was awesome, she was very patient and understanding.
Cheap but awful service. Took over an hour for them to take the dog and then when you come to pick up ur pet you have to grab a number and sit and wait. Its very frustrating and unorganized. Not to mention there is never enough parking spots so people block eachother in. Wouldve rather paid full price somewhere else than the inconvenience!
