Staff is great, Dr. Means has a true passion for animals. He works long hours and provides very affordable care. He literally saved my dogs life after she was hit by a car. However, if you are not a responsible pet owner, he has no problem telling you like it is (which you may not like). He understands that nature happens (fleas, mites, infections, etc) It is when you (dog/cat owner) have just let problems go and there are infestations or the animal is miserable, he is not going to be very friendly about this. But really, did you not see your dog scratching his ears for the last 9+ months??? Did you expect to be praised for letting your dogs flea or mite problem get out of hand??

We have been using Dr. Means for over 10 years. He has called us after 10PM to let us know the status of our pets are while doing his rounds. Very affordable but high quality care. He doesn't believe in price gouging. He will not tolerate idiot owners that let problems go for a long time. How will you know? He will tell you and you may not like it..... This may be where some of the negative reviews stem from. He takes great care of your pet and he believes us as owners should do the same. He is very personable and respectful to me and my wife. We engage in conversations every time we are there. He is very focused and may not initiate a conversation with you as he is fully focused on your pet. You have to understand that he works endless hours even checking on pets during the night if need be. He is super intelligent. When I'm talking to him I personally feel I'm in the presents of greatness. I mean the city should construct a monument to his achievements and contributions to the community and beyond. Sincerely, Kenny and Carla

I drive an hour and half from Kansas City to Warrensburg for Dr. Means. I had probably been to every Vet in the KC area until I found out about Dr. Means. He is truly the most amazing Vet ever and to be honest I would drive many many hours to his clinic just to know that my pets are in the best care possible. For those of you who say he is not a people person...Not true. He just doesn't like idiots who don't know how to take care of their pets and don't put them first. I have never had a bad encounter with Dr. Means. He is always respectful to me and easy to communicate with. He doesn't strike up a conversation with me as soon as I walk in, but guess what? He isn't there for me. I could care less to talk to him about how the weather is or tell him about what I've been up to. He is there for my dog and that's all I care about. He will give your pet the absolute best care in the world. I'm serious. As for his pricing...well, he is super affordable. In the city, it normally costs me $60-90 for a normal check up (not including any testing) and maybe some medication depending on where I go. I can usually get most of my services that I need done for my pets under $30. He is so incredibly affordable to the point where I have my dog checked multiple times a year for everything! (Yes, I am an overprotective pet parent and I admit it). I know the other reviewers have complained about his clinic and the smell. But think about it, he sees more pets in a day then most Vets in the area. Of course his clinic isn't going to smell like roses. He doesn't care to have the newest technology nor the fanciest clinic because he would much rather provide you with quality care that is affordable. Get over it. Your pet is more important than you and your comfort level. The wait is long also. But once again, he is busy because he is good. So you will have to wait your turn if you care about your pet. I once waited for 2+ hours and it was well worth it.

i have been going to doc means with my only dog for 18 years, she lived to be 19 years old in no small part to this vet clinic. 100% of his focus is on your pet and he will make sure that your pet is taken care of. i will be taking all of my pets to this clinic for as long as his doors are open.

Very good vet, knows what he's doing. IS NOT A PEOPLE PERSON, but loves your pets to death. So you can't get mad if he trys to yell at you a little bit because he is cheap and you shouldn't take any hard feelings to heart.
