I moved to Billings in May 2006 and, because of proximity and the fact that they are a 24-hour emergency clinic decided to try out BFAH. After having numerous reasons to bring my dog into the clinic and following a serious illness, I cannot think of a better, more conscientious set of people who own and work at BFAH. When my dog developed a life-threatening pyothorax, and Dr. Smith suggested that I take her to Colorado State where they have the most advanced technologies available and a lot of experience and expertise, I KNEW that BFAH cared more about the animal than the fee. They turned down thousands upon thousands of dollars in fees because they were honest about the fact that the best care she could receive was somewhere else. That's honesty. And even if the fees are higher than other vets in town, I can be absolutely certain that I will get a straight answer on what my dog requires and why. If you are looking for a vet that will provide the highest level of care for your pet, go see the staff at BFAH.
They get one star for having friendly staff (most of the time). We have brought two different cats in for emergency care, the vets were clueless. The vets had to google the symptoms to even provide a treatment for the first cat. They did save her, but she was never the same cat again. Cost $600 for them to google the issue and provide the cat with saline IVs. The 2nd cat did die because they were too busy to help her, even though they stated they provide emergency care, this was at 6 in the morning on a weekday. I wanted a necropsy done on her to find out how she died, instead they sent her head into the state for a rabies test even though she did not display symptoms of rabies and was vaccinated. For that little bit of "service", it was around $350. My last complaint is that it takes too long to get in and out of that office, they treat it like a human Drs. office, you make an appointment and when you get there you wait in the waiting room. They then take you to the Drs' room, you wait again for a while, speak with a "nurse" who takes vitals, examines your pet and then she leaves, you wait yet again for the vet who does the same things again and you then explain the issues with your pet. On average, expect to be there at minimum 45 mins to an hour for a standard office visit, longer if it's something they don't know how to do. I have taken 5 different pets there and out of the 5 only one experience was okay, the rest left me feeling like the vets didn't have a clue to what they were doing.
I've been going to Best Friends for quite some time. They took care of my Allegra from puppy to rainbow ridge. They now take care of my Zuma and Magnet. Everyone is kind and knowledgeable. They give you options and cost for any procedure -no pressure. Their number one concern is the furry kids. Great hours and after hour care, never a concern if your goof ball dog some how gets stung at 2:00am and is having an allergic reaction.
I know my dog is getting the best of care when he goes to Best Friends. Everyone is very professional and friendly. My dog had a problem on a holiday ( of course ) and we were so worried about him. BFAH took care of him right away; what a relief that was! And the bill was lower than I expected it to be :-) Thanks you guys!
Exceptional Staff that has seen us through everything from basic shots to final moments. They are caring and sincere in all they do. We can't say enough good things about BFAH! They leave no detail to your pet's health care plan unturned, and will go beyond the extra mile every single time. I have never felt rushed or unheard in any appointment, no matter what it was covering. I suggest them to all my pet loving friends in the Billings area.
