There is a new vet since the person who reviewed her cat was held down by straps. The people there now, especially the vet took amazing care and time to keep my guy calm and peaceful while doing all they could for him. They do use towels to wrap them and hold them until they are calm and quiet. They don't rush and are all about speaking quietly and slowly around the cats. They even let me stay with him until he was sedated before surgery. He had been through so much before this, even had a broken back when I first found him. He had had a pretty scary veterinary experience with the first vet I took him too so he always gets a little shockey when he has to go to the vet. This was the first vet that he snapped out of it and actually started purring! My other cat who was dying, I had taken to four other vets and they could not find anything wrong, was properly diagnosed within 5 minutes at Cat Care Clinic! Dr. Karel Carnohan did all she could for him and when I knew that he was tired of fighting and wanted to let go, Dr. Carnohan still hung in there making the process as kind and painless as possible for both of us. He absolutely trusted and loved this vet and her technicians. I also love Dr. Carohan and am so very grateful to her for her loving kindness and the kindness of the staff. Cats are unique creatures and it really helps to have those who take care of them handle them with care, love and respect. These people definitely do! Thank You Dr. Carohan and staff!!! A note on an unhappy customer's recent review. Sometimes people will not let a vet do what she needs to do and her hands are tied. This review from what I saw of the situation is way out of line and Dr. Carnohan did all she could given that the person was not open to her (having recently bought the practice from the previous owner) and refused to let her do the proper testing and vet assistance that the situation required. I have had such horrible vet experiences from four other vets in town and I am grateful that Dr. Carnohan and her staff have the open hearts and the expertise that they do. They are always willing to help well above and beyond what other practices will do both medically and professionally.
I was incredibly surprised to see the low-star review, but then I realized that it was written during the time that the clinic was under old management. Dr. Karel bought the practice last summer (2013) and we have gotten to know her and her staff very well as we have taken three of our cats to the clinic for one reason or the other. Dr. Karel is very knowledgable and relates to our cats in a positive, nonthreatening way. Her staff is very kind, helpful, and friendly. We've taken our cats in for minor things, but also were relieved to be able to trust her with our precious cat when she was diagnosed with untreatable cancer. Dr. Karel helped us explore every possible avenue for treatment and then provided end-of-life care that kept her almost pain free and very happy until it was time to let her go. Even then, our cat had become so comfortable with Dr. Karel that she passed away peacefully and comfortably among people that she knew and loved rather than feeling threatened or anxious. I've been to plenty of veterinary offices in many different places and have often been frustrated by the lack of connection with my cats or the way that my concerns were brushed off. Dr. Karels office is the complete opposite as she cares for our cats. I can't recommend her strongly enough.
Best Vet experience I have every had. I took a cat to the clinic expecting to put him to sleep. We took him in after someone dumped him. He had the most horrible infection in his ear that has spread to the majority of his head. It was so bad, you could see part of his skull. We thought for sure he was beyond saving. Dr. Carnohan and her staff of kitty angels took suck amazing care of him. I will be taking all my cats to her from now on.
Not a positive experience, Snow had an eye infection, Dr. Kathy put Snow through so many medicines for an eye infections, that caused her eyes to bleed, to have extreme weight loss and ultimately causing her death I feel they put she went through unnecessary pain through trial and extreme error. I am leaving this practice and taking my cat to a new Veterinary clinic. I have been taking my cats to the Cat Care Clinic for over 6 years.
I really loved this vet, very much. I've had bad vet experiences so I was really worried about taking my new kitten in somewhere, and I checked the reviews of all the places in Asheville. Cat Care Clinic was universally recommended by it's reviewers and I found out why when we got there! The girl at the front desk was super sweet, and they had a cute bobtail cat that was wandering around the front office. The nurse that came in and checked up on the paperwork could barely contain her excitement at the sight of our kitten, she was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. The doctor was hands-down wonderful. During the check-up on my kitten, she quickly let us know that our "girl" kitten was actually a "boy" kitten (even though the cat had already been fixed). Not that the gender matters ;) She had to give our kitty a capstar pill, check his pulse, check his temperature anally (poor kitty did not like that), and give him a shot. The shot was tough, and the doctor had to scruff our kitten because he freaked out, but she was great about it. I really wasn't worried about my cat in her care. She let us know all about cat leukemia and the differences of the shots, and I got some flea medication for my little boy. The capstar pills worked almost immediately, and even though we were warned, my kitten had no allergic reaction to the shot. The staff very clearly loved and cared about the animals they work with. On the paperwork I signed there was a section that said that euthanasia was at the discretion of the doctor, and that they would NOT put a pet down (even if you asked) unless they thought it was absolutely necessary. That was the part that made me the happiest of this place. The doctor also spoke of treating feral cats: another sign she actually cares about animals, not just money. And she also spoke of her 13 pet cats :D I will 100% be back to this place, they treated me, my boyfriend and my kitten with respect, care, honesty and integrity. Loved it, and very highly recommended!
