We've been taking our pets to The Animal Hospital since 1983, when we got married and got our first cat. Dr. Ward owned the practice then and when he retired we knew he'd left us in good hands. Dr. Dorsch and Dr. Anderson are both fine veterinarians. They lay out all the treatment possibilities and their costs and benefits, and then are respectful of the decision one makes. One of my cats is 19 and hyperthyroid. We are at the "keep the Elderly Gentleman comfortable" stage. He gets his daily methimazole, but no more. Both Dr. Dorsch and Dr. Anderson are fine with this. I have *never* felt pressured to do more or spend money on expensive treatments. Though I'm sure they prefer it when we bring in the Middle-Aged Lady (she's sweet and purrs), they have always been good with Elderly Gentleman Cat. Even though he is an evil beast when he is there. I know the time is not far off when we will have to send Elderly Gentleman Cat on his final journey. In 31 years we've had to have two cats euthanized. (One was 16 and had sarcoma, the other 12 with FIV.) I know that, when the time comes, both EGC and I will be treated with respect, love, and care. And, really, can one ask more from one's veterinarian?
We have excellent care for our cat. He is an adoptee and Dr. Anderson and Dr. Dortch have provided great care for him.
Great vet and excellent care for my twenty-three year old kitty. My vet has gotten old and while on travel with my cat, he became very ill. It is hard to find a vet who will take on an elderly animal and even harder to find one who will treat your animal with respect. These people saved my kitty's life! They did a profile and set him up for treatment (antibiotic for urinary tract infection) and got him on the road to recovery. Since I am transitioning to this area over the next few years, I am moving my pet's care to these people. They are simply the best. To be willing to see an elderly cat from out of town and treat him says volumes about the quality of their practice.
I've known The Animal Hospital since 1985. I'm loyal to this business due to the excellent service, pleasant staff, accomdodating schedule, convient location. I'm pleased to recommend TAH to my friends and clients.
Horrible staff made up of lazy technicians, and even ruder doctors. The doctor who "examined" my pet (whom I believe to be the owner, Dr. Anderson) was not only in a huge rush while doing so, but she answered every question I had with an extremely sarcastic response. I was told that unless I was prepared to spend several hundred dollars on unneeded products and services; my pet would likely die. If you are going to bring your pet to The Animal Hospital of Carrboro; you may need to take out a small loan to pay for the visit, as you will likely pay close to $500 for an exam, vaccinations, and a load of unnecessary products (and on top of it; not be given the opportunity to be present with your animal for the conduction of the exam, and administration of vaccines- that REALLY seemed fishy to me, as I had NEVER been denied the right to do so). I would suggest if you care about your animal, and don't have a fortune to shell out to an ungrateful doctor and her clinic, going to a knowledgeable and respectful doctor in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro NC area. With a little online research, you will find that the area has a plethora of kind, caring Veterinarians with equally kind staff; and I promise you the quote will be far less than what you will be charged by The Animal Hospital of Carrboro. All in all; I would rate my experience there a negative 5, because of the above mentioned concerns, and because of how uncooperative the clinic was with me after I expressed my dissatisfaction (they refused to release the results of a heartworm test conducted there, to a different clinic so my dog could be prescribed his heartworm pills from a different vet; leaving me to either pay to have another one conducted just 1 month after paying TAH around $40 to do one at their clinic, or simply leave my pet at risk, until she was due for her next heartworm test in 6 months). Wretched Service, Unethical Doctors, and to top it all off; they will lie straight to your face to make a few extra dollars...
