They let my dog suffer to die. All they want is the money. It was late on a Saturday evening so resources were limited. My dog had cancer and was dying. He was suffering and I called 2 vets who both both knew our dog's case and status and both of them contacted VSH to ask them to provide me a bag of fluids. They would not, even as a professional courtesy. I had treated him with fluids before and knew how to do it. He had been in with him a month or so earlier so they had a record of what they had done and his cancer. I had paid over $700 for that visit and they gave him fluids and steroids. They told my wife that we had to bring him in for an emergency visit for $122 plus meds, tests, etc. and that they would not provide fluids without seeing him - even though 2 different veterinarians had requested it to help make him comfortable. My wife got nowhere so I called and they continued to refuse. My dog died at 5:10 Sunday morning. Thank you VSH for your compassion... all I wanted was a bag of fluids and all you wanted was the money. I wouldnt take my pet there again if he was hit in their parking lot
My cat had a HORRIBLE experience at this clinic on 12/5/14. He has a problem with his eyes and we were referred by our regular vet to the Eye Care side of the clinic. His eye issue is currently very uncomfortable for him and it was important to get him in asap. To get him in in for a scheduled appointment was going to take two weeks but they could see him in two days if I dropped him off and picked him up at the end of the day which is what I did. Check-in was fine and the person at the desk was very pleasant. Dr. Fisher called me after evaluating him and was very helpful over the phone. However, when I picked him up, a vet tech came to speak to me. Even though I had a detailed conversation over the phone with the doctor, the vet tech sat down with me to "fill me in" as well. She was extremely impressed with herself and, when speaking to me acted as if she was doing me a favor. She didn't seem to have a good handle on what was going on with him, and it was VERY clear she was trying to get us out the door as quickly as possible. It took quite a while for her to bring him out to me. The receptionist told me he had "pooped" in his carrier and they were cleaning it out. When the same vet tech finally brought him out, he was a complete mess (literally and figuratively). She said he had used the bathroom in his carrier and it had gotten all over him. She then (word for word) said to me they "tried to use dry shampoo to get some of it off of him and tried to clean out his carrier...but he's on his own to do the rest." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was so shocked and appalled I didn't even know what to say. It could not have been more obvious that he had been confined to his carrier for quite some time like that. He was pretty well covered in it so it was clear the incident didn't just happen and he had been left in that condition for a good while. He's 13 years old and I have NEVER seem him stressed out from a vet visit like he was when she handed him over to me. He was completely unglued, stank to high heaven, and I had to drive home an hour away with him in the car smelling like that. Being in a carrier has never bothered him but he was so upset he was rattling it to get out. It is now the day after and he's still completely unhinged from the experience. I am still reeling from the complete lack of compassion and the callousness displayed by this vet tech. With some care and compassion, she had an opportunity to turn a bad experience into one of compassion and understanding for this poor cat but she was too impressed with herself to be bothered, and her only priority was to get him out of there. She has absolutely no business working with animals, and there is NO excuse whatsoever for this kind of treatment from a place that is supposed to have the best interest of these animals at heart.
I gave my Lab a bath last night and cleaned her ears after. Tonight I walked in the door and found a marble sized bump/cyst on her outside ear canal. I called VSH and was told to just see my regular vet in the AM. I took her in anyway and within an hour found out it was just a huge blister. They drained it and send us on our way. I was $120 lighter but I'll sleep good knowing my pup is ok. The staff was very attentive and professional, don't hesitate with your pets health. These guys are the real deal. The only negative I could list is the smell of the front lobby. Smells like a wet dog. Kinda like a veterinarians office :)
I highly recommend this awesome hospital for your pet. My husband and I brought our kitty Bobby Angel in for a revision PU surgery. We entered the front door and were pleasantly and quickly greeted by several front desk receptionists and guided to the nice coffee/tea station. We hardly had time to finish our hot drinks than when the nurse came for us --and we were taken to the waiting room for a thorough questions/answers session. She compiled many notes before taking Bobby out to be examined. Dr. Gary Spodnick performed Bobby's successful PU surgery. After the surgery, Dr. Spodnick met with us in the waiting room to give surgical details and answer any of our questions. He helped us feel confident that we could manage our pet's home care and recovery. While kitty was at VSH, Dr. Spodnick and the staff called daily to tell us how Bobby was doing, and kept us informed of his expenses as they occurred. When Bobby came home, Dr. Spodnick and the VSH staff called daily, checking on him, and asking if we had any concerns. I would, without hesitation, recommend this awesome Veterinary Specialty Hospital to all of my friends and family.
This place is horrible. They will do anything to get you through the doors and charge you for unnecessary costs. We took our cat to our normal vet for blood work and found out she was having kidney failure. They sent us over to VHS to get an ultrasound and confirmed with them that the ultrasound technicians were there. When we showed up they quickly got us into a room and took the cat to the back, making us think she was getting prepped for the ultrasound. They brought her back very quickly and then we sat in the room for over an hour before the vet came to talk to us. She then informed us that the ultrasound technicians were not there and our only option really was to leave her over night for the chance that the technician could come in on a Saturday. They said in all the visit with ultrasound would cost us $2,000-$3,500. When we declined to leave her overnight, they still charged us $120 for an after hours exam fee. Had they told us when we got there that the ultrasound technicians are not available we would have left immediately to go back to our normal vet. But their hiding the truth cost us valuable hours and we had to pay for them to tell us the same information our normal vet had just faxed over to them. We will never take any of our pets here again.
