While the vets and staff were very polite and professional, as a business this place is quite the scam. Everything is ridiculously overpriced. Xrays are more expensive then other places and are said to go to a radiologist for a second opinion. However, when I took my 6 mo old kitten to another vet they didn't see anything wrong with her xrays. This animal hospital wanted to charge me $1000 for a couple xrays and an overnight stay! Then started talking about the possibility of expensive surgery. When I got my second opinion, the solution was an antibiotic. This place was ready to perform unnecessary surgery for something that wasn't even wrong with my kitten. It scares me to think that they misdiagnosed something that seems pretty common. I would not suggest going to this hospital. I wish I would have read some of the other reviews thoroughly, as this mistake cost me $450 for treatment that wasn't necessary and didn't help.
I rated this Animal care facility a two based on my investigation of several other animal care facilities in the surrounding area and my experience with an animal hospital we have recently found to fully treat our dog that was beyond exceptional. If this review was based on giving a great rating for just the staff then I would have given it 4 stars because our pet did receive kind treatment and the staff was very polite and caring, however; the hospital itself is a complete rip off. Our dog received treatment for bladder stones, the doctor was not able to "flush" the stone(s) back into his bladder to remove the entire blockage stating he would need surgery as soon as possible , also telling us he would not be able to releive himself if we took him home. When we went to pick up our dog he was able to all of a sudden urinate, having the vet's story changed from maybe she was able to break up the stone temporarily? They wanted to charge us $900 for this procedure but we told them we only had $600 that day and could have more by Friday and the doctor was able to remove things off the invoice to get us to the price we could afford. They instructed us that placing him on a special science diet could possible helg dissloves the stones and prevent new ones from forming, but our dog has food allergies and can't eat corn meal , or by products , there were no other suggestions after we stated that. Then, the vet stated our dog would need surgery for $3,300 ! I don't know about most homes with a family to provide for but that is alot of money for my family to pay up front, we didn't have pet care and even if we did you still have to pay the fee upfront to receive a reimbursement so it wasn't an option for us. We didn't get to see the $200 xrays to show the bladder stones or blockage and we didn't receive a detailed printout on what was exactly performed on our pet. I called today to speak with the hospital to have a print out sent to our home because we asked around to many other pet owners and even the pet feed store we buy our pet essentials from recommended a WONDERFUL FULL SERVICE animal care hospital that if you google has amazing reviews. I am not at all saying this facility is not equipped with services or staff to give you the care you need but if you want to be mindful of what you are being charged and how much please do your research! I wish we would've known about the hospital we are taking our dog to get surgery done at before we would've saved $422 so far . Our dog had all his bladder stones flushed out of his tract back into his bladder and is being prepped for surgery with full care and overnight service for an affordable cost with complete breakdown of procedure, a cd rom of xrays showing the stones, pain meds, antibiotics, etc. I can go on and on how different the service was from the animal medical hospital. For peace of mind I hope each everyone reads my review and knows not every hospital will charge over whelming fees and they are just as equipped with full staff, care, and medical services. Have a great day!
Dr. Gray is amazing! I bought a female yorkie puppy and found out that when I picked her up from the breeder that she already had ring worm. Dr. Gray was able to help us during this process, help our little girl and also treat our 2 year old yorkie boy as well- after her got it from her. She was very sweet to both our our dogs and extremely responsive when we needed more antibiotic spray and special shampoo to help the spreading. Needless to say she is the best vet we have had and I'm glad that when we moved her from WI we had made the right choice when choosing her. ***** Animal Medical Hospital also has a great puppy plan which helps making all the shots and health visits affordable. And to top that, Dr. Gray told us they price match, so we have been able to save about $50 so far in the last two visits by comparing prices online while waiting. :)
Absolutely fantastic!!! We had to unexpectedly put our pet down and they were so kind and understanding. They took us right back to a quiet light with dim lights and a homey sort of feel. They talked with us and explained our options (taking her back home or cremation) understood our feelings (I was a hot mess of tears and snot), gave us private time to say good-bye and did not keep us waiting when we were ready to have her taken from us. They offered us water and soda and even took our payment in the room so we did not have to create a scene in the lobby. The bill also didn't has the word euthenization on it so it didn't make me feel more upset. A week later we received a personalized note from our doctor that really made it seem like she was experiencing it with us and a laminated card with our pet's name and footprint (christmas ornament size). I was so pleased with their service and will definitely be using them in the future.
My kitty Koshka (or Kooshy) is currently being treated for Panleukopenia (Distemper). She is being hospitalized in an isolation unit for up to 10 days. When I took her in today she was on her third day of clinical symptoms and very ill. The front desk was wonderful; they offered me water while I waited, they were very apologetic about the wait time (there were two emergencies right before I arrived), they loved on my kitty, they were responsive to her changing symptoms, and they were even quick to escort me to the bathroom upstairs when they were busy. This is all before I found out how sick my Kooshy really was. I was alone because my boyfriend was at work and terrified of the worst case scenario. When the vet (I think it was Dr. Thomas but I'm horrible with names) gently told me about her condition I began to cry but she was very compassionate and understanding. She had a wonderfully optimistic attitude and she was very informative. She clearly laid out the protocol they take for this disease ($950 flat rate and all of the procedures and treatments included). She told me that I can call at any hour to check up on her and that they would also contact me everyday. I can even go in and visit (I just can't go into her little isolation room). I had to say goodbye and leave my baby there and the vet told me to take all the time I needed. I went up to the front desk to take care of payments and check-out and started to cry again. Libby, the staff member who I had been corresponding with most since I called that morning was soooo wonderful, compassionate, and empathetic. She gave me some tissues and cheered me up quickly, reassuring me that my kitty was strong and that the vets were great. The other front desk staffers and nurses were wonderful as well. I hope my kitty makes it, and if she does, I will most certainly make AMH my permanent vet.
