This night on a Saturday, January 24, 2015 I rushed our little boy there because he cut his front pow on the lid of his food. When I got there two of the staff was walking out. I asked them if anyone was still there being it was 745 pm. They said no they were the last two and gone. I explained to them what happened in quick stride. They did not offer to get me anything to stop the bleeding. I asked then where can I take him they. They said two places for after hours. Then I asked where it was and they stated we don't know. The place is less then 5 miles and they don't know their after hour help. What the. Losing business from me and I have two pets with them.
Once upon a time this was the most amazing place. Dr. Shultz and the other vets, and front end people were amazing. Now the only front end person that I trust is Stacy, who is amazing. A few weeks ago when I called on a Sunday to see if my sick cat could be seen the weekend vet hadn't shown up, hadn't called in and it was nearly 40 minutes late. I made an appointment for the next day which later that day, they called, left a message saying they needed to cancel. I had a dying cat for goodness sakes. This never happened until about 6 months ago but I will not go to this place again. I went to the Banfield near Southpoint and these people were amazing. I am calling the corporate office about the repeated poor service at the Durham office. I can certainly understand why Dr. Shultz left and I may follow her. Good luck Dr. Shultz. You are the best. And good luck Stacy, you are great also.
Do not go here. I had a terrible experience. The vet tech was amazing however the vet we got was AWFUL- I want to think he is just a particular bad vet and this is not true for all of this location. I have also had great experiences at other Banfield locations when I lived in a different part of the state. The vet I got was Dr.Kundla- I would encourage you to request someone different when you make an appointment. I'm really not sure why he is a vet but he acted like he didn't even like my cat and would get frustrated when the cat would walk off the little exam table to where the computer was. It's an animal they smell and investigate their locations. The other thing he did was continuously call my cat by the wrong name even after I had corrected him twice. I do not feel like he cared at all about my cat and It felt like he was more interested in adding on fee after fee. It's a few days after and it is obvious to me I did not get the service I paid for and will have to make another appointment to a different vet because my cat still has the problems I went there to address. I heard from friends the other Banfield locations in the area are wonderful especially the one on 54. I will try that one this time and hope for much better results.
My dog, Jake passed away recently. He was a 16 year old cock-a-poo who suffered from seizures near the end of his life. On the day before he was put to sleep, he was having continuous seizures. I tried to call Banfield that afternoon to make an appointment to have him put to sleep, and over the span of two hours, I called no less than 6 times. No one ever answered the phone. I eventually called the groomers next door to ask them to find someone I could talk to. Only then did anyone even talk to me, and they offered no apology for the fact that no one was there to address my concerns when I had a dog seizing. Jake went peacefully the next day. We paid to have Jake cremated and returned to us, and we were told that we'd get a call in about a week saying that he'd been returned and we could pick up the ashes. More than two weeks later, we still hadn't received a call, so we called the hospital wondering what the issue was, and after providing our identifying information, we were asked, "Was he a labrador?" They had lost him. Eventually we were presented with a box of remains, but now I'm left unsure as to whether it's actually really even him--not how you want to feel when you've lost your best friend. No apology was offered for the atrocious customer service we experienced on either of those occasions. In fact, I sent an email to corporate after the first incident where I couldn't get anyone on the phone, and have still not received a response. The employees here don't care about customer service, and neither does corporate. Go anywhere else.
Our experiences with Banfield and especially surrounding Dr Schultz, and Dr Wendelkin have been the very best. Our pets have had multiple health problems and the care and attention the staff has shown to them has amazed us. Of note is their very kind staff especially Shenita, Stacy and Tiffany. In our darkest times they have supported and assisted us far in advance of other practices we have used. Today we had to say goodbye to our old boy Noah, in the midst of a very full day Dr Schultz made time for a graceful and attentive exit for our boy from this life.
