To say that this vet clinic is anything less than stellar is absolutely mind blowing to me. I have been taking all of my pets there, and even some neighbors' pets as well as strays, for the last seven years. Both Dr. Wright and Dr. Mickey have been OVERWHELMINGLY dedicated to the care of my animals and I will forever be grateful to them. The level of compassion that is displayed is appreciated by myself and my fur kids. It's a fact of life that vets are expensive. In all of my years owning pets I've never gone to one that wasn't. In a lot of cases, they use the same medications and supplies that a normal doctor would use. Like doctors, they have to pay for their education. Unlike humans, an animal can't tell you what is wrong with them, but even the best vets have to simply work off of trial and error sometimes. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be paid for the work that they've done.
I've been taking, my now 19 year old cat, Toby to Seventy Frist Animal Hospital for approximatley 4 years. Drs. Mickey and Schoenfield have taken wonderful care of him. Although there have been longer wait times then I care to sit the staff has always been kind when it came to me leaving and rescheduling appointments. I also understand that emergencies come up and nothing can be done about it. The techs that give Toby his IV's are loving and very patient with him. I get a genuine sense of caring from them. The front desk staff are always pleasant, greet me with a "good morning" or "welcome" and schedule my appointments according to my needs not their calandars. Also, I have never been given a hard time about cancelling appointments but have been told, "thank you for keeping us informed!" I'm always informed as to what labs need done and what the cost is prior to having these tests run. Things are always explained to me so I do not feel left in the dark. I have indeed recommended Seventy First to new neighbors and will continue to do so. Also I tried to give this 4 stars out of 5 but was unable to...a glitch some where peraps?
Poor treatment of their records and clients. Poor communication and service.
This animal hospital is a disgrace to the profession. Public Relations/Customer Service is a wash. Don't expect a single employee to serve you with any sense of urgency. I have sat in the waiting room 30 minutes past my scheduled visit, every time. The hospital itself smells like cat urine and the grout on the floor looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in years. You can throw their "estimates" out the window - a simple lump removal was $700 over the estimate, totaling close to $1,500. Even the receptionists, yes all of them, were SHOCKED at the price. After the surgery, the vet didn't even meet with us to discuss what was done, what medicine was given, how to care for the wound, etc - a receptionist proceeded to "read her notes" from our pets file and could barely read the handwriting. 3 days later, we returned to have a drain removed and the vet didn't even visit with us to see how our pet was healing. A tech removed the drain, and we later found out, her training consisted of online classes. We have yet to be introduced to the vet that performed the surgery. Did I mention the sutures were sloppy - there's a good chance of infection. Unprofessional, not personable, unsanitary and extremely over priced for the lack of care and compassion they show for pets and clients. Steer clear.
While my cat was boarded at the vet, I got a call saying that they wanted to test my cat for tapeworm because they saw a tapeworm in his stool. Seems kinda obvious to me that if they found one then the cat has them. So why would they ask me to test him unless just to rip me off? It would have been 21 dollars more just for the test and I'm sure even more for the medication. I looked it up on google and its super easy to identify and 25 dollars for the expensive brand of the medication. It was also over 60 dollars to get him up to date on his shots.
