Carolina Veterinary Spec. is absolutely the BEST! They saved Bella's life! They met me at the door, after I called letting them know I was coming. She had an MRI and spinal tap. Dr. kept me informed every step of the way. Bella is my second pet Car. Vet has treated. My first dog, Gilda, had heart problems. She was hospitalized for a week. We were able to go visit her. I just can not say enough wonderful things about the Dr.'s there. They actually care! I would recommend Carolina Vet. Spec. to anyone! NO PLACE BETTER!!!
Veterinary emergency rooms require a deposit, it is unfair to give a poor rating because of this. Also, if a cat has a urinary blockage for even as much as 12 hours it can become a life threatening condition- again, unfair to blame hospital.
Came home from work 2/8/11 and The Bailey (cat) was acting strange. He kept going to the litter box, but was having trouble urinating. Off to Carolina Veterinary Specialists we go. They gave him a exam and said he had a blockage in his urinary tract and that it is a common thing with males and that the procedure was routine. All vitals was perfect and blood work was close to perfect because we caught it so soon. They put him under and did the blockage removal and put in a catheter. Bailey was suppose to stay overnite. We stayed there until the procedure was done and then they told us we could go home. When we got home there was two messages on the machine from the vet, we called them back and they said he had died. They apologized, but they could not tell us WHY he died. I don't think there was negligence, but think a unintentional error could have been made. I just don't know. We won't use this EV again as long as we have options. The Bailey was only 5 years old and his life was cut way short. He will be sorely missed.
I can't praise them enough for saving my little dude, Walker. He was a tough case and Dr. Purnell and all the staff were absolutely amazing. They were so kind, attentive, proactive and honest. I have recommended that everyone I know with pets to switch to them for regular care and emergency situations. I kind of miss talking to Dr. Holcomb in the morning and getting excited about how much we love platelets! Can't thank them enough.
